Youth to be the focus at the inaugural Dalton Developer Grasstrack – Preview

Sunday October 8th is the date for Dalton Grasstrack Club’s staging of their Dalton Developer, a meeting to promote the sports young riders giving them another race date and the opportunity to ride at the iconic Dalton Barracks venue.

This rescheduled event has all four youth classes running with nearly 40 future stars going to the tapes including an impressive 12 Auto Cadets entered. The Cadets, Juniors and Inters also have strong looking heats. Alongside the kids there will also be four Adult classes on show, 250cc & 500cc Solo’s, The Old & New Sidecars and their big brothers, the awesome 1,000cc R/H sidecars.

Some of the riders competing in the adult classes are youngsters Austin Riches, Max Derrick and Charlie Wood on their 250’s, and in the 500cc grids will be Edward Kennett, Barracks Bonanza Runner up Charley Powell, New Zealander Bradley Wilson Dean, and Buxton’s Jack Roberts. Up and coming riders aiming to do well are four from the Midlands, Eli Meadows, George Pardoe and Liam and Ryan Ashcroft. Amongst others North London’s Luke Harris, James Laker from Kent, and Bristol’s Jim Collins will have aspirations of a good day as well.

Local Newcomer Chris Bradburn and passenger Karl Bedingfield are up against five other crews in the Old & New Sidecars in which Mark Courtney / Leon Torres and Liam Brown / Frankie Courtney will no doubt be front runners. The Big Chairs entry is topped by The Cossar brothers, Mark with the returning Carl Blyth and Tom with Wayne Rickards on the side. Aiming for the top step will also be plenty of others with Terry Saunters & the busy Liam Brown who are having a superb season, the favourites to upset the Midlanders. Will Offen / Ricky Pay, Paul Whitelam / Richard Webb, Matt Fumarola / Andi Wilson and local favourites Mike Austin / Vinny Branch will definitely have more than just a say on the days proceedings. 18 outfits will feature over three rounds of heats and a B & A Final.

Trackside parking around the circuit is available with facilities and hot / cold food will also be on site. First viewings of the bikes on track is during practice which starts at 10.15am and the first race will be off the line at 12.30pm. Cash admission for Adults is just £12 with kids under 16 in for free. Please use postcode OX13 6BX Same entrance as the Bonanza meeting in May.

This years Charitable cause the club are supporting is for the local St Helens Church Restoration, and a collection will be made on the day to go towards the donation made.

Club founder and Chairman, the aforementioned Mike Austin is excited and very proud to have this meeting as part of the grasstrack calendar, saying these young lads and girls are the sports future, people need to support them as much as possible, all being well they all enjoy the day, want to ride more and more, and in turn it will hopefully give the sport a secure future.
