Round three of the 2024 FIM Sidecar Motocross Championship graces the popular circuit of Plomion in France, close to the Belgian border over the weekend of 25-26 May. It is back to hard-pack, fast downhills and jumps and a wide-open competition for this crucial third round.

The question on everyone’s lips is whether the sensational seventeen-year-old Latvian Lielbardis twins can make it three in a row. They have already emulated the feat of Marvin Vanluchene and Nicolas Musset last season in winning the first two GP’s outright, and now all expectations are that they will be going for more of the same.
But rest assured, their card is well and truly marked by the main contenders. Both Koen Hermans / Ben van den Bogaart, and the aforementioned Vanluchene, now with Glenn Janssens, have had troubles in those two early rounds. If they get a clear run at the Latvians, which they need to do, the picture will almost certainly change.
There are many others who fancy their chances, not least of all second in the title chase Brett Wilkinson and Joe Millard. The popular British crew achieved a career milestone in Heerde, taking their first ever GP race win, to place them one point ahead of Hermans.
Vanluchene, despite a DNF in Portugal, sits fourth ahead of French champions Killian and Evan Prunier. They will have massive support in Plomion from the partisan and very vocal French fans.
Watch out too for Jason van Daele / Loet van der Putten who were extremely fast in Heerde, until a rock in the eye halted their race two progress.
Tim Prummer and Rodolphe Lebreton, also qualification race winners in Heerde, had less luck in the GP races, with Lebreton suffering a wrist injury making it impossible to continue.
On another sad note, Dan Foden will not be present to improve on his ninth place in the standings. Just this week the British team announced that Ryan Humphrey has taken the decision to retire from world championship competition and is stepping down.
This has made the future uncertain for Dan, so he will not be in France. We wish him the best for the future and his search for a replacement.
The other teams are all set, and ready for France to make GP3 a weekend to remember with everything to play for and the red plate at stake.
