In the qualifying session for the Fastest 40 class, Tom produced a good lap time and went 4th fastest in the Pro MX2 class ahead of Ben Putnam who was 9th fastest with Alife Jones going 11th fastest. In the Pro MX1 class Glenn McCormick was able to post a solid lap time to go 10th fastest. Meanwhile, in the MXY2 class, Harvey Cashmore was 6th fastest on Saturday.

In the first of the Fastest 40 Pro races, Glenn made a good start and was inside the top 10 on the opening lap, unfortunately for the MX2 riders it was a tough start to the race with Tom, Ben and Alfie all suffering bad starts and having to push forward during the race. In the MX1 class, Glenn rode a solid race to finish in 8th place, while Tom managed to charge through the pack to claim 5th in the MX2 class, narrowly missing the top 3. Ben also rode well to claim 8th place just ahead of Alfie in 9th.

The second Fastest 40 Pro race, saw Glenn make another good start inside the top 5 and charged hard with the leading riders which allowed him to claim another solid result in 9th for 9th overall. In the MX2 class, Tom made a much better start and was just outside the top 10 of the race early on and quickly moved into the lead of the MX2 class to take the race win and with it secure the overall victory and maintain his Championship lead. After another bad start Ben, rode through the pack to finish in 7th place at the flag and claim 7th overall. Unfortunately, after having an issue with the race bike before the start, Alfie went out on the spare bike but suffered a puncture which put him out of the race early on.

At the end of the weekend, Tom now leads the championship by 17 points, while Alfie sits 11th in the standings with Ben in 15th. In the MX1 class Glenn is now in 9th in the standings.

In the MXY2 class, young Harvey Cashmore had a good weekend of results taking 4th and 5th place finishes on Saturday. He then followed this up by going 3rd in the opening moto on Sunday before claiming 5th in the final moto of the weekend. The four solid results saw Harvey claim 4th overall and miss the podium by 1 point and he now sits 5th in the points standings.

Tom Grimshaw – The third round of the MX Nationals at Lyng went well, I started the day off a bit slow in qualifying and could not get a clean lap time in, but I knew in the races I would be better. Lyng for the MX Nationals is always difficult going against the 450’s where you get out dragged on the start and the one lined nature of the track. In the first race, I was in a close battle with the rest of the MX2 riders and brought it home for 5th. In the second race, I made some moves early on and got into the lead and controlled the race to take the race win and the overall with a 5 – 1. In the championship we kept the points lead and maintained the same points gap so I am happy with that.

Ben Putnam – Steady day today, I had bad starts in both Motos so got my head down and counted down the laps and managed to get 8th and 7th. I managed to show good fitness today with more race time on the bike.

Glenn McCormick – It was a steady day for me at Lyng, I started with a 10th in qualifying and followed that up with an 8th and 9th in the races after getting two good starts. I was at the front of the field in both races and tried to run at the same pace but got a bit over-excited and could not maintain the position at the front. It was a good learning experience at the front in both races so I am happy with the weekend.

Alfie Jones – It was an up and down weekend for me this weekend at Lyng. I had a mid-pack start in the first race and hit a false neutral and then got hit by another rider on the first lap so had to come back from nearly last to finish in 9th. Then before the second race, we had an issue with the race bike and then went out on the spare bike but had a puncture a few laps in which put me out of the race.

Harvey Cashmore – It was a good weekend for me with 6th fastest in qualifying. In the first race on Saturday, I had an okay start and finished 4th in the 250’s. In the second race, I got a good start but made a few mistakes during the race to finish 5th. On Sunday I had a good start and was lying 2nd before finishing 3rd in the opening moto. In the 4th race of the weekend, I had another good start and finished 5th and missed the podium by 1 point.
