Tricky weekend in Sardinia for Bike It Kawsaki!

Tricky weekend in Sardinia for Bike It Kawsaki!

It was a difficult weekend in the sands of Sardinia which was filled with bad luck for the two Bike It Kawasaki MX2 riders, as both were left with outside gate picks from collisions in the qualifying race.

Despite making some mid-pack starts from the outside, the treacherous and rugged track claimed back what positions Jack attempted to secure with crashes in both races. The American was still able to take home a few points and solidify 13th position in the overall standings. Teammate Bobby Bruce was less fortunate, as a collision in race one would force the Brit to retire with a painful wrist.

The team have been spending time in Italy at UFO HQ before preparing for Trentino this weekend in more favourable conditions.

Billy Askew will join his teammates in Trentino for round two of the EMX250 class.

Jack Chambers – MX2

“We did a lot of prep over the winter at my sand track but the Sardinian circuit is a unique beast – we figured it was better to focus on my race fitness as a whole than focus too much on something like this specific track for minimal gains. I’m looking forward to this weekend in Trentino”

Bobby Bruce – MX2

“Unfortunately with my long lay-off I haven’t been able to prep as much for this type of sand, as I have been doing a lot of riding and rehabilitation in Spain over the winter after my surgery last year. I think next weekend in Trentino should be good”

Steve Dixon – Team Manager

“It was great to have our trailer at this race after the tractor unit broke on the way to the Spanish GP. With the tractor unit engine looking a bit terminal we were lucky our long-time sponsor Dyce Carriers stepped in with the last-minute loan of one of their tractor units from the Poole depot.

Well it was as expected, a tough weekend in this special sand, we knew we had sacrificed preparation for this one round in the hope of more gains at future GPs in more favourable conditions. Crashes and small injuries hampered us, but we will take the positives that Jack moved up one place in the MX2 championship to 13th.

We move on to the mountainous circuit of Trentino where we have a full house of sponsors attending.”
