“This was an underwhelming weekend” Ben Watons on his Sumbawa GP

The Samota-Sumbawa track in Indonesia hosted the tenth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2023, the first of two consecutive races to be held in the Asian country. The extreme heat, accompanied by a high level of humidity, severely tested riders and vehicles.

After setting the fourteenth fastest time in the time practice, Ben Watson (Beta RX450) confirmed his performance in the qualifying race, which he again finished in fourteenth position. Thanks to a smooth and error-free pace the English rider finished twelfth in both heats, also finishing in the same position in the day’s Overall.

Next weekend the MRT Racing Team Beta will be engaged in the Grand Prix of Lombok, which will be hosted by the unusual circuit on the island of the same name in the Indonesian archipelago.

Ben Watson: “This GP was particularly hard for me. Right from the first practice I never had a good feeling. We worked a lot on the bike but I didn’t find a set-up that would allow me to be fast without any risks. This was an underwhelming weekend, but I want to stay positive and try to make up for it in the next race. I finished twelfth today but I am convinced I have a chance to do better.”
