The second coming! 2025 NPC Pro Motocross Championship Round 1 – Preview

The second coming! 2025 NPC Pro Motocross Championship Round 1 - Preview

The second coming of the Nora Pro Motocross Championship (NPC) begins this weekend, with the first round of the 2025 edition being staged at the Oxford Moto Parc near Abingdon.

With the 2025 Motul British Motocross Championship opener at Hawkstone just a week away, this is a perfect opportunity for pro racers to iron out any issues ahead of the big one, earn some prize money, and go for another pro title after the loss of the Fastest 40 championship.

Some of the top names lining up in the Pro MX1 class include the Crendon Tru7 Honda duo of Conrad Mewse and Jamie Carpenter. Both of them have started the season in a positive fashion, with Mewse winning the first round of the Scottish Championship and Carpenter doing the same at the Bridgestone British Masters last week in Culham.

Competition will be tough with the Dirt Store Racing Triumph racer Joel Rizzi set to race the Triumph 450 for the first time.  SC Sporthomes Husqvarna are also out in full force with Tristan Purdon and Charlie Putnam at the helm. Scottish MX Champion Brad Todd will want to make an impression, as will Chambers Racing rider Dan Thornhill. Onboard his Phoenix Tools Fantic racing machine, Carlton Husband could well be a podium contender too.

British MX Legend Tommy Searle on his Dirt Store Racing Triumph tops the billing in Pro MX2, but he will have heat from the likes of Ben Mustoe in the ASA United Gas Gas Machine and Calum Mitchell on the Worx Total Triumph, both of whom put in impressive performances at the Hawkstone International. SC Sporthomes Husqvarna’s Charlie Heyman has already chalked up a victory this year at Tain in the Scottish Motocross Championship, and a big year is expected from the young rider. British Youth Champion Josh Vail is back after his crash at the Hawkstone International, and he is looking to make his mark on the NPC for his new Phoenix Tools Fantic Racing team.

Glenn Mccormick has also started his season in great style, finishing eighth at the Hawkstone International and second in the Scottish opener. Liam Garland could also be a spoiler.

In addition to the Pro classes, which only race on Sunday, are the Supermini Small Wheel and Big Wheel classes, MXY1 & MXY2 Futures (running together), Clubman MX1 and Clubman MX2, and Amateur MX1 & MX2 (running together) in a format pretty much the same as the Fastest 40.
