A practice evening on Friday opened proceedings with many new riders taking to the track for the first time. Saturday though was race day and a great entry of expectant young riders were keen to take to the track which served up great racing throughout the day.
Two heats of racers line up in the Revvi 12″ Open 3 years of age class with the riders having three point scoring heats which would decide the six riders who would contest the A Final. Coming into the final Rex Jones would be unbeaten but a fall in the final diminished his chances of a podium place. With a great start and lightening speed the A Final win would go the way of Harvey Patel who would show everyone a clean pair of heels at the head of the field. Jake Coxon had a superb race and would finish second with Samuel Warner riding excellent for third. Rex Jones fought his way back to fourth ahead of Theo Ross in fifth and Ethan Rudd in Sixth.
The B Final saw Freddie Davies take the chequers ahead of Lucas Gill in second and Ruby Keenan in third.
Over in the Revvi 12″ Open 4-5 years of age class Ralph Khamouli put in a great effort to storm to victory in the A final with Beau Smith-Densley having a great day in second and Jenson Martin also riding well to get on the podium in third Hunter Campbell put on a good show with Fourth, Acey Topliss was fifth and Charlie Wilkinson was sixth.
Heidi Robinson was the victor of the B Final ahead of Eddie Nottingham second and Joey Robinson third.
Bryce Brown took the top spot in the Revvi 16″ Standard 3-4 years of age category with 35 points, only being beaten by Ethan Rudd in race 2. Second place on the day went the way of Joey Stephenson who took second courtesy of beating his rival Ethan Rudd in the final race with the two tied on points. So Ethan would finish third with Saint McMaster fourth.
Moving up to the Revvi 16″ Open 3-4 years of age class proved to be a good one for Stanley Scott who went unbeaten with four wins from four to take the Revvi Cup title in this class. Aj Stephen was solid all day long and finished second, Harley Cornwall would end his day with the third and final podium spot with Jacob Iveson fourth.
There were some epic battles in the Revvi 16″ Standard 5-6 class but coming out on top in the final was Martha Gill who had to ride her best to keep the hard charging Alfie Bagnall at bay in second. Benji Brown had some great races and finished third in the final with Arlo Bell saving his best until last with a good fourth. Frankie Davies would end the final in fifth, Heidi Robinson was sixth and the smiling Amber Southward was seventh.
The stacked Revvi 16″ Open 5-6 class always delivers great racing and the Cumbria Moto Park proved the perfect track to supply more of the same.
It was fast and frantic on the first lap of the Final but emerging with the win would be the super smooth and fast Austin Roberts who has now won all four 2023 events in this class. Local rider Ronnie Barnes had a tremendous day and made sure Austin couldn’t relax at the front of the pack and would finish second with Rico Blinkhorn having a great race to grab third. George Nottingham rode well to finish fourth in the A Final with Levi Simpson in fifth and Marco Reynolds having one of those races with a number of falls seeing him finish sixth. A special mention must go to Marco though who was a contender going into the final and who got back up and finished the final even though he took a couple of nasty tumbles.
In the Revvi 16″ Open 7-8 class Ellie Warner and Lottie Calverley duked it out all day long but it was Ellie who got the better of Lottie 3-1 so she would take the Revvi Cup title in this class with both girls showing great sportsmanship and congratulating each other at the end of their final race.
The EXGB open classes caters for all brands of Electric Balance Bike saw the Cumbria Moto Park team loan some of their KTM bikes to some local riders who put on a great show for the enthusiast crowd.
Cooper Lightbown made a great debut in the EXGB Open 16″ 3-4 class, winning all four races on his way to the title. Hudson Park pitched in with four great races to take second, while Riley Stamper would edge out Rory Toppett for the third and final podium spot with Toppett fourth and Zander Mackenzie in fifth.
The biggest battle of the day was the final EXGB Open 16′ 5-6 year old class with three riders in with a shout of the title going into their last race, but an early fall for Archy Sword and some fantastic riding by Rory Davenport saw him win the final race, tieing on points with Rico Blinkhorn but due to the last race being the tie breaker the title would end up in Rory’s hands. Rico would end a tremendous day for him in second with Archy Sword a point behind the lead duo on third. Seb Birchall made a strong debut with fourth, Letty Blackburn was fifth and Black Metcalf was sixth.
William Sherwood would win out in the battle of the brothers in the EXGB Open 20″ 10-12 class beating Ethan on each occasion to take the title with Cooper Lightbown joining this duo on an 18′ Stacyc and getting on the box in third.
