The Pro MX1 title fight is over and out, with Conrad Mewse being crowned last time out at Hawkstone Park, and with him racing the GP this weekend, it leaves a full-on battle for the remaining podium places. Conrad’s Crendon Tru7 Honda teammate Taylor Hammal is in the P2 hot seat as it stands, and with third-place rider Tristan Purdon stateside with the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna team, that leaves Apico Honda’s Martin Barr being the rider next in line to take a shot at the number 2 spot. On the fringes of this battle is another Apico Honda rider, Tom Grimshaw, who is just starting to find his form on his new ride, and a good round here could see him make a claim for a podium.
Out of the title race but looking for Round Glory will be the likes of Jason Meara, Dan Thornhill, Brad Todd, Stu Edmonds, Chris Mills and Carlton Husband.
Pro MX2 looks fairly clear cut, with Dirt Store Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle needing a top-ten finish in Moto 1 to clinch the title ahead of his teammate Joel Rizzi, who has already secured second in the standings. The third position is still up for grabs, though, with Dylan Walsh holding down this spot as it stands, but only by ten points over 2 Stroke ace Josh Coleman with Howard Wainwright in the mix.
The Championship looks fairly locked in but with plenty of young racers on the rise, there could well be a shock result or two as the championship embarks on it’s first trip to Sellindge.
In the Apico 2 Stroke Festival 125cc class, the mixed Adult and Youth standings see Josh Vail holding a 22-point lead over Jamie Keith with Matt Bayliss third, but with Keith on EMX125 duty in the Netherlands, Matt Bayliss in third, will be looking to pull the pin and claw his way into second.
Scott Alldridge and Josh Greedy are separated by just 16 points in the Amateur MX1 class, and with four motos still to race, this could well go to the wire. Jamie Fort, Keelan Southward and Brad Thornhill will be duking it out for the third and final podium spot.
Harrison Greenough needs to keep it cool, calm, and collected in Amateur MX2 and manage the 40-point lead he was over Charlie Hamlet in second. Hamlet, in turn, needs to keep an eye over his shoulder as James Lassu, Daniel Brough, and David Plank will all be going all out to be on the podium come the end of the weekend.
In Clubman MX1, Harry Fletcher has one hand on the trophy, having chalked up a 55-point advantage over Matt Dowes in second, but he can’t be complacent with 100 points on the board. Charlie West, also with an outside shot, is in third.
Richard Roberts and Alex Hamer have it all going on in Clubman MX2. Just 22 points separate the two, so expect some fierce action at the sharp end of this class this weekend, not only for the title but also for third, where Sean Frayne, Aaron Framingham, George Clarke, Harry Foster and Bradley Johnstone could all stake a claim for the final step on the box.
