The four-day festival is entering its third annual event and attracting more global attention every year. After venturing across the pond in 2023, Steve Matthes aka Pulp MX took to the stage for live Pulp MX Shows on the Friday and Saturday evening and wrote a story for RacerX magazine and RacerX Online where the event was dubbed as “the Woodstock of 2 strokes”. But there’s more, after seeing the event first hand, he was immediately interested in entering a Canadian team for the 2024 race.
Matthes is going all in for VMXdN Foxhill 2024, he has entered the event not only to ride himself on a 2002 YZ 250, but also appointed himself as the Canadian Team Manager, enlisted a star studded Canadian team to race in the International VMXdN Team Race and there is some very exciting entertainment news for the event in the form of a collaboration between the Pulp MX Show and the Torq Moto Show (hosted by DocWob & Jeff Perrett).
Back to the racing and first up on the three-man team is Tyler Medaglia, a well accomplished former factory pro rider, who has represented Team Canada at the “real” nations five times. Born in 1987, he will be 37 at the event. Having raced professionally for many teams, his stint on the Pro Circuit Canada Kawasaki squad is most prevalent. Medagila stats are impressive having been 5x amateur national champion, 2x national champion, 5x Team Canada MXdN member and AMA Arenacross Lites champion. He will be a threat for race wins on a 1996 Honda CR 250.
Ryan Lockhart, or Newf to his friends and fellow competitors is a well-established and accomplished racer in Canada, who turned professional back in 1998. In the following years, his career highlights include a podium finish at the Toronto round of the World Supercross in 2004 and 2008 Arenacross champion. He is now an industry guy having worked with Matrix, Atlas brace and the Fox Canada GDR Honda Race Team. Lockhart will be racing a 1995 Yamaha YZ 250.
Ryan Gould is the senior member of the team who at 48 years old will meet the criteria for the team allocation. Having been a professional rider in Canada for over 25 years he is extremely experienced. He has also previously taken the reins as manager of the Canadian MXdN Squad and now runs MX training schools. Gould will be racing a KX500. All three bikes will be supplied and prepared by Gary Senior.
VMXdN Foxhill is a MX festival celebrating everything that was good and great in 90 and 00’s motocross, bringing people back to the heady days of the Grand Prix at the famous Foxhill circuit. Even in its first year the event had become the “must see” family MX event on the calendar with rider entries selling out in seconds, the trade village being full and lots of heavy industry hitters as event sponsors.
If this event is on your radar for 2024, the promoters strongly advise you to buy your tickets well in advance to avoid any disappointment. Ticket sales are up on previous years, and they are anticipating the event to be ticket only in 2024, which is unheard of for an outdoor MX event in the UK.
