Stuart Brown on the mend and building up for the British Sidecarcross GP

Multi-British Sidecarcross Champion Stuart Brown is on the mend and gearing up to be back to his best for the forthcoming British Sidecarcross GP which takes place at Cusses Gorse MX on the 29th and 30th July.

Words and Images by Tracy Thacker

At the first 2023 sidecar GP in Spain, Stuart with new passenger Nathan Cooper, landed short on one of the big jumps, he immediately felt a lot of pain in the ankle, but the local hospital said it was just bruised. He pushed through to the next GP in Portugal, but was still in pain. The pain wasn’t going, and the racing wasn’t any easier, so he sought a second opinion back in the UK only to confirm there was a fracture which now needed an operation. This meant the team had to miss the GPs and even the first round of the British championship.

After 6 weeks with plenty of rest, the team are working back to race fitness. With the ankle strapped up and braced, they have raced at both a NETT and NORA sidecar championship event in the last few weeks and will be contesting the British Championship this weekend in Dean Moor.

Catching up will be difficult but it will be great to see them back, and just in time for our home GP at Cusses Gorse.
