Steve Holcombe maintains second place in standings after 2024 FIM ISDE Day 3

Steve Holcombe maintains second place in standings after 2024 FIM ISDE Day 3

Team GB had another mixed bag of results yesterday at the 2024 FIM ISDE, with Steve securing a solid runner-up finish on Day 3 to leave him second overall. The Women’s Trophy team have slipped down to eighth after a bike issue during the enduro test cost Nieve 19 minutes as she tried to fix the problem. The Junior Trophy team are holding strong in sixth overall with some consistent results and strong times.

Steve had a great day, opening with another test win as he wowed the crowds at the first cross test, making the huge rock jump seem easy. He later went on to top the same test again, claiming back precious time against his rival Josep Garcia. Unfortunately, a mistake on the enduro test cost Steve a lot and allowed Garcia to run away with the win by 20 seconds. However, Steve is still well in the runnings for the overall victory with two more full days of racing and a motocross race to go.

Jack Edmondson had a really strong day, putting in some impressive times to finish 29th overall and 20th in World Trophy. Looking to get into the A final of the motocross test on Saturday, Jack is well on track to finish in the top 30 overall!

In the Junior World Trophy, Sam Davies had his best day yet! With plenty of strong test results and minimal mistakes, Sam finished as our fastest Junior rider and will make the most of it on Day 4 with his improved starting position. Both Max Ingham and Sam Hughes had a Day 3 scattered with mistakes and a few costly crashes, but both are still in good standings and will be back on it on Day 4 with a better knowledge of the tests.

The Women’s Trophy Team currently lie eighth after three days. Nieve Holmes was riding well, but during the first enduro test her bike stopped. Luckily having taken her bumbag into the test with her, as most of the women have opted to do this year, she spent 19 minutes working on the bike. Determined to keep going, Nieve found the problem and fixed her bike, finished the test and made it to the next time check with just two minutes left to refuel. The rest of her day was really impressive, with some great test times that Nieve will surely replicate on Day 4. Emily also had an impressive day, finishing as our fastest woman with some really consistent results. Libby also put in another consistent ride to finish P22 in the Women’s class just behind Emily.
