Steve Holcombe has undergone surgery and starts rehabilitation

Steve Holcombe has undergone surgery and starts rehabilitation

The Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team announces that, following the injury sustained during the first round of the 2025 EnduroGP World Championship in Portugal, official rider Steve Holcombe underwent surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.

After withdrawing on the second day of the race, Steve returned to Italy and sought the care of Dr. Francesco Caranzano, an orthopedic specialist in Turin. The surgery, performed on Tuesday, April 15, was a complete success: the ligament was reconstructed using a graft from the semitendinosus tendon, both menisci were stabilized, and, for added protection, a lateral tenodesis (LET) was performed.

The prognosis calls for a prolonged absence from competition, but Steve has already started the rehabilitation process under the guidance of a team of specialists, with the goal of returning to racing as soon as possible.

Steve Holcombe

“The surgery went very well, and Dr. Caranzano was pleased with the work done. My anterior cruciate ligament was reconstructed, both menisci were stabilized, and a lateral tenodesis was added for extra stability. This is the first serious injury of my career, but I remain positive. It will take time, but I am already focused on rehabilitation and getting back in shape. In the meantime, I will take advantage of the recovery to work on restoring my old Honda collection bikes.”

Matteo Boffelli, Team Manager

“We are sorry for Steve’s injury, but we are happy that the surgery went as well as possible. Steve is an exemplary professional, and we are confident he will approach rehabilitation with the determination that has always distinguished him. At the same time, to honor the commitments made with our sponsors and continue our sporting journey in the Championship, the team is actively evaluating possible replacements to join the squad for the upcoming races.”
