With the 2025 Motul British Motocross Championship approaching fast, we caught up with one of the Pro MX2 Rookies, Harrison Greenough. As he heads into his debut year racing with the big guns, he looks ahead to his first year…
Greenough, who is 18 and works as a carpenter, has plenty of experience. He started riding at the age of 4 on a Yamaha Peewee 50. His and his family’s dedication has seen them race throughout Europe, notching up some great results in the super-tough Dutch ONK championship.
Last year, Harrison rounded out his youth career by finishing second to Reece Jones in the MYX2 class of the British Motocross Championship and being crowned the British Amateur MX2 champion, so he comes into 2025 with plenty of confidence.
This year he will be going it alone as a privateer onboard a KTM 250F Here is what he had to say about the end of his youth career and his future in the pro ranks.
Dirt Hub: Hey Harrison, first up, how was your 2024 season?
Harrison: “2024 was overall a good year for me. I won the British Amateur title, came a close second to Beau Brown in the Bridgestone British Masters MXY2 class after missing a round mid-season, and finished second in the British Youth Championship. We put good scores on the board, but there was a lot of progression behind closed doors, too!
DH: Now that you are stepping up to the Pro Ranks, how do you feel when you look back at your Youth career?
Harrison: After spending the past 12 years of racing and coming through the ranks as a youth rider, looking back on it, it has gone way too quickly, but I’ve made some great memories, won some cool stuff, and met some great people. I do wish the younger me had put more effort in and focused on my technique more while on a 125. That definitely would’ve put me on a better path!

DH: What are your stand-out achievements from your racing career so far?
Harrison: My stand-out achievements would be,
2x 3rd in the Dutch ONK championship
1st in the British Amateur Mx2
2nd in the British Mxy2
and a handful of British and international wins with some European top tens throughout the years.
DH: How has your pre-season been, and what have you been doing differently this winter to prepare for 2025?
Harrison: It’s been a quiet Pre-season this year. I didn’t touch my bike for 3 months after the last round and really focused on the gym; Alexander Brown from 141 Personal Training has hopped on board, and due to him, my fitness is unreal, and I’ve never been so strong on a bike before. Unfortunately, my trip to Spain had to be cancelled, but we’ve put a few days on the bike with Stephen Sword and got over to Holland with Raife (Broadley) and the crew for a good few days riding. It’s a shame I couldn’t get more riding done, but I’m ready to get this show on the road!
DH: Are you riding for a team, or are you running a privateer set-up?
DH: What are you looking forward to, and what are you nervous about for the forthcoming season racing with the Pros?
Harrison: I’m definitely looking forward to causing a stir with all these full-time boys. There’s no better feeling after a week on a building site. However, it is nerve-racking going into my first Professional season with well over 40 super-fast lads. I’m looking forward to it!
DH: Do you have any Goals or targets for the year?
Harrison: As long as I have a smile on my face, enjoy riding my bike and stick it in the mix, im definitely happy. It’s my first pro season, so im going in with no real expectations. I’m sure that will change as we get through the first few rounds.
DH: What Round of the British are looking forward to the most and why?
Harrison: Im really looking forward to Canada Heights. It’s such a fun track, and I’ve had a lot of success there in past years
DH: Are there any Pro riders or former riders giving you advice on how to race with the Adults?
Harrison: The main man, Swordy (Stephen Sword), has been giving me some words of wisdom. He’s the best person to have in the holding pen with you before a race, and I really enjoy working with him. Taylor Hammal does give me some words, but I’m not sure if I’d call them words of wisdom. Overall, I need some patience and to keep my technique when it matters.
DH: If you could choose two riders to be lined up on the gate alongside at Hawkstone Park, who would it be and why?
Harrison: That’s a tough question. It’s going to be great lining up with Gyan Doensen again, just like in old times when it wasn’t so serious. I’m not sure if I can battle with him like I used to, though!
It’s also pretty cool to be lining up with the likes of Tommy Searle. He’s someone I’ve watched win on the world stage when I was little, and I followed his career since I can remember, so that would be something the younger me wouldn’t believe, but if im lining up next to them, it will be Billy Askew and Bobby Bruce, them boys know how to rip a start.
DH: What other Pro Rookies are you looking forward to racing against, and who will be your biggest rivals?
Harrison: A pro rookie, I’m looking forward to racing is Raife Broadley. He has always been a few years ahead coming through the youth ranks, and we have both always been the fast boys without the deep pockets behind us to fund it so much, so when we get to race each other, it’s always fun, having such a good relationship with him off the track makes that rivalry a bit sweeter. The cards are so open this year that I couldn’t tell you who my biggest rivals will be until after the first round, but I can promise you good racing and no doubt me and Tyla Hooley will find each other out there!
DH: The new MXGB race format looks exciting, with qualifying and LCQs. What are your thoughts on this?
Harrison: It is a step in the right direction for British motocross. I do, however, think a 2-day format with practice and qualifying on a separate day to racing, a bit like the GPS, would be good!
DH: Where would you like to see yourself in five years time?
Harrison: In five years’ time, I’d like a smile on my face and a healthy bank account with memories and relationships to last a lifetime.
DH: Who would you like to thank for their support in 2025?
Harrison: I like to give it up to all my sponsors, but most importantly, Mum and Dad, Nan and Grandad, along with my little sister.
