Just shy of 100 Electric Balance Bike Racers descended on the SX Worx indoor venue in Sheffield on Saturday to compete in the Revvi Yorkshire Super Cup which ran alongside the fifth and final round of the EXGB British Indoor Electric X Championship.

The Revvi 12″ Open 3 year old class is always stacked as it proved to be on Saturday, with the level of the racing stepping up a gear with the little racers all improving with each event they take part in.
With two heats of racers doing battle the riders had to compete in three heat races to decide who would qualify through to the A Final and compete for the coveted Revvi Yorkshire Super Cup.
The title would go the way of Harvey Nicol who has had a fantastic 2023 so far having already won the Revvi South West All Stars. Harvey would go unbeaten in the heats and was super fast in the final where he beat January Revvi Cup winner George Breeze who himself had won two heat races. Maddox Buckley was solid all day long and had a great final to finish third and getting on the podium. Luca Hayes saved his best for last to finish a fantastic fourth, George Joyce fifth, Lucas Gill on his debut sixth, Theo Ross was eighth and Ethan Rudd was ninth.
In the B Final Cooper Jax took the win ahead of Daisy Rudd in second, Samuel Warner was third, Jesse Sheldon took fourth, Terri Huggins was fifth, Ruby Keenan was sixth, and Charlie Dennis was seventh.
The Revvi 12″ Open 4-5 year old class went down to the wire. This class was decided over four point scoring races. Going into the last one Stanley Scott had two wins to his name and Blake Benson had one, so the final race would be the decider. Blake would be the early leader but Stanley was in sublime form and took the chequers and the cup ahead of Blake would finish the race and the day in second. Great racing guys. Behind the dualling duo, Nicky Layt would round out the podium with a great third overall ahead of Louie Bryant in fourth, Beau Smith-Densley in fifth, Aronas Giedratitis in sixth, Ollie Heron was seventh and Xavier Laniyan finished eighth.
When it comes to being close nothing tops the Revvi 16′ Standard 3-4 years of age category where the final standings saw four riders separated by just 2 points. Max James-Good though would win the decisive final race, as he did at January’s Revvi Cup, and this would land him the Super Cup title, with Zara Jackson riding fantastic to end the day in second. Spare a thought for Presley Purchase, who with two wins to his name had a good chance of the title but a crash in the final race meant a third was the highest he could finish. Harrison Thistlewaite ended the day just one point outside of the podium but was always right in the mix and he will certainly be one to watch going forward. Ethan Rudd continued his busy weekend with fifth, Revvi South West All Stars winner Louie Smith was sixth, Zebedee Walters was seventh and George Hague was eighth.
There was a clear winner in the Revvi 16″ Open 3-4 years of age class and that was Marley Butler who stormed to four race wins from four to take the Super Cup. Reggie Wheatcroft was solid all day long and grabbed second overall ahead of George Breeze who edged out Raife Western by one point for a place on the box. Theo Malkin put in a strong performance for fifth, Ronnie Dennis was sixth, Wheeler Simmons was seventh, Jonah Barks was eighth and Blake Read was ninth.
The Revvi 16″ Standard 5-6 year old class had some epic racing with three different race winners over the four heats. With two victories to her name and by not dropping out of the top three all day long the Super Cup would belong to Martha Gill. Martha rode at our first ever Revvi Cup event back in August 2021 and it’s great to see her riding on the 16″ bike now and riding so well. Ollie Vincent was Martha’s closest challenger winning the final race and having two seconds under his belt but a low scoring second ride wasn’t enough for him to take the win, but he rode excellent to finish second overall. Benji Brown got better as the day went on. He started with a sixth, then got a fifth, then a third before finishing with a super second, throughly deserving his third position overall. Fourth position went the way of Marley Montgomery, Freddie Greaves was fifth, Daisy Cartwright took sixth, Mabel Breeze was seventh, Skyla Vincent was eighth, and Heidi Robinson was ninth.
The Revvi 16″ Open 5-6 years of age is one of the premium classes at all of our events, with the quality of the racers second to none. So far this year Austin Roberts has been near on unbeatable winning January’s Revvi Cup and the Revvi South West All Stars at Wheeldon and once again he did it again at SX Worx by taking all three heat race victories and a dominant win in the final over his good friend and rival Kolbe Red Sole, who again was in great form. Oscar Duckworth had a tremendous final to make it onto the podium. Rico Blinkhorn rode well all day for fourth while Maggie May Layt had her best result of the year in fifth. Marco Reynolds was a title contender but bike issues in the final put pay to his chances but he show determination to finish the race in sixth. Theodore Seymour was seventh, Hadley Dillon was eighth and Jenson Hawksworth was ninth.
In the B Final the victory went the way of Daniel Beardall, who passed the chequered flag ahead of Henry Spicer in second, Bella Badby was third, Dexter Arnold was fourth, Jenson Brown was fifth, Vivienne Western was sixth and Shelby Read was seventh.
Emelia Bryant won her first ever race in the first Revvi 16″ Open 7-8 year old class in fine style and went on to collect another three more to become the Revvi Yorkshire Super Cup winner in her class. Well done Emelia. Demi Denniss was second to Emelia in each race and would finish the weekend in second, while Ellie Warner edged out Logan Taylor for third. Bow Lewis made a great debut finishing fifth.
Alongside the Revvi classes were the EXGB Open Electric Balance Bike classes which see all brands of Electric Balance bike competing for their own slice of glory. The first of these was the 12″ 3-5 years of age class which saw the super busy Ethan Rudd notch up an excellent win ahead of Cooper Swan who would finish first in the second race. Jenson Martin would end the day on the podium in third, George Fenwick was fourth, Eli Kellett was fifth and Jacob Laluk was sixth.
The EXGB Open 16″ 3-5 years of age class saw Mini-E EXGB champ Ethan Kentch win with a maximum on his Stacyc, ahead of Rico Blinkhorn with Nicky Layt netting his second podium of the day in third. Archy Sword onboard the GasGas was fourth, Mable Breeze was fifth, Denny Simmons sixth, Reuban Huyton was seventh and Daniel Gallimore was eighth.
There was only one racer in the EXGB Open 16″ 6-8 years of age category so the win went the way of Quinn Howieson.
A new addition was the EXGB Open 20″ 10-12 years of age group which saw brothers William and Ethan Sherwood go at it on their Stacyc bikes. It was William though who took the overall with three wins to Ethan’s one.
Julie and Paul at EXGB would like to thank everyone who came and raced with us at Sheffield and Wheeldon, for the families for creating such a supporting and fun atmosphere to our venues Wheeldon Off Road Centre and SX Worx, our sponsors Revvi and Duck Smart, and the team at NORA Motorsport, but our biggest thanks must go to our small and amazing team… it’s not easy putting on these events, with so many races and little riders to organise but they always pull it out the bag and their commitment to our riders and their families never falters…
The next event will be the Revvi Cup at the brand-new Cumbria Moto Park on the 22nd April which will also see the addition of EXGB Open Electric Balance Bike Classes. For more info and to book go to >>CLICK HERE<<
