Satisfying start to 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship for the Lane Racing Team

Round 1 of the 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship proved to be a profitable and satisfying weekend for the Lane Racing Team. Whilst Team owner Simon Lane took overall victory in the Vets Over 50’s, Liam Gale, making his Open class debut, and scored a very solid 4th overall.

After finishing runner-up in the 2024 AMCA MX2 class, Liam was now aboard the big 450F Yamaha and, in a very competitive mixed-capacity contest, started the weekend with a 7th spot. Still getting to grips with the increase in engine power, Liam suffered a couple of spills in Moto Two but still brought it home in 11th. The third moto and Liam was right on it, making his best start of the weekend. He passed early leader James Dodd to take control of the clash for several laps, eventually dropping back to 5th. Although the final moto did not quite go to plan, it was still a very promising opening round for Liam.

Riding in a Vets class which incorporated separately scored groups for riders Over 40, Over 50 and Over 60, Simon Lane started the defence of his title in superb fashion. in moto one he recorded a 2nd place behind his brother James Lane before then taking the win in the second clash of the weekend. Showing fantastic pace and determination, Simon then passed Matt Ryder on the final lap of a thrilling moto three to earn another great win before making it a hat-trick of Fatcat victories when leading the final moto of the weekend from gate to flag.

The final member of Lane Racing, Tyler Lane, unfortunately had to sit out the Fatcat event after breaking his collarbone in a practice crash. He does hope to return to action soon and compete in the AMCA 125cc Youth Championship.
