Rudersberg all set to host 2024 FIM Sidecarcross Championship Round 9 – Preview

Rudersberg all set to host 2024 FIM Sidecarcross Championship Round 9

The weekend of September 14-15 sees the beginning of the run-in to decide who will be the 2024 FIM World Sidecar Motocross champions.

The proximity of the famous Rudersberg track to the city of Stuttgart always attracts a good crowd over the three-day weekend festival of Motocross and party-style entertainment. Despite a difficult summer, with heavy rain and local flooding affecting much of the region, the venue itself escaped in good condition, so the on-track action will be as good as ever.

The points standings tell the story of a season-long battle between the top two contenders, as the Latvian Lielbardis twins Daniels and Bruno challenged the authority of the established stars, growing in confidence and speed as the year unfolded.

Defending Champions Marvin Vanluchene and Glenn Janssens fought a comeback from the very first round in Portugal, steadily chipping away with speed and consistency to the point where they now have a substantial lead in the title chase.

Earlier bulletins have detailed the exact situation regarding the chasing pack and the standings are there for all to see, but the reality is that this is shaping up to be a two-horse race with only four Grand Prix races remaining. Behind the British crew of Wilkinson and Millard in fifth place there is still a lot to play for with Tim Prummer/Rodolphe Lebreton and the Leferink brothers split by just ten points. Then, the battle for eighth sees just nine points separating five teams as Davy Sanders, Gert van Werven, Benny Weiss, Stephan Wijers and Jason Van Daele do battle for those honours.

All this is bound to make for a thrilling weekend in Germany, as we build towards the climax of the season.

A strong entry list, bolstered by additional local teams will guarantee exciting qualifying on Saturday, but the fun begins on Friday night in the “Mega Party Tent”, with food, beer and live music.

Rudersberg is a “must-do event” and will lead us nicely into the Italian Finale just one week later. Why not take a late holiday and join us for the final four races of 2024 when you will see the champions crowned. Who will it be? There is only one way to find out. Soak up the action either by courtesy of our live stream, or in person. It’s not too late to book whichever you choose. Either way, we hope to see you there.
