“The Fish” needs no introduction to anyone who knows anything about 90’s and 00’s racing. He grew up on hard-pack South African tracks, but he came to race in the UK full time at the age of 17 and brought with him a flair and style nobody had seen previously, his raw speed was matched with a flamboyant Supercross riding style that captivated the country.
Rob raced 250 GPs from 1987 through 1998 before moving onto the 500 GPs. He was part of the legendary 1994 winning MXDN squad that broke the USA team’s thirteen-year streak – he was on the British team many times during his MX career and went on to be the team manager for the British Nations team for seven years.
Rob’s career has moved on and these days he is an accomplished stuntman as well as being a rider for the on-board cameras for many cinematic blockbusters.
Following spectating at the 2023 event, he has wasted no time in registering his interest and securing his entry into the biggest and most anticipated race on the UK MX calendar – that is VMXdN Foxhill!
Rob is racing a CR500 in his most famous livery – the Castrol Honda, with his familiar number 19 in the plus 50 class, he is certainly one to watch on the bike as well as being one of the most approachable guys in the pits. Rob will feature on the live podcasts and live stream as well as the legends parade lap over the four-day festival which takes place on August 22nd – 26th, referred to by Racer X Magazine as “the Woodstock of two strokes”.
Tickets for the four-day festival are available for the four-day Motocross event of the season at https://vmxdnfoxhill2024.eventbrite.co.uk
The promoters are urging anyone who has not already done so to secure their tickets asap. Camping in 2023 was full, early tickets sales are indicating that camping and spectator tickets will sell out and the promoters expect this to be a ticket only event in 2024.
