The Revo ACU British Motocross Championship kicked off its first round at Oakhanger in Borden, where the top riders in the country gathered to battle it out for the top spot. The newly built sand track proved to be a challenging one for the riders, testing their skill, speed and determination to stand on the top step of the podium. The next round of the Championship was due to take place at Canada Heights, however, after careful consideration by the club and promoters, the decision to postpone the event was made. So now we head to the historic Cadders Hill circuit in Lyng to continue the chaos that Oakhanger started.

After the first round of the British Championship Harri Kullas dominated the MX1 race, leaving his competitors behind as he took a 1-1 in the first round to lead the championship standings. Despite the best efforts of Conrad Mewse and Josh Gilbert from the Crendon Fastrack Honda team, Kullas proved to be unstoppable as he powered his Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha towards victory. He will be the rider to beat at Lyng also, a track he has fared well at in the past. His 1-2 scorecard in 2022 was enough for second overall, behind eventual 2022 Champion Tommy Searle. The competition will be fierce though, with the addition of MX2 champion Conrad Mewse in the MX1 class this year. The #426 has good form around the iconic Norfolk track, having secured a 1-1 here in the MX2 class in 2022.
In the MX2 class, Isak Gifting, Bobby Bruce, Jorgen-Matthias Talviku, and Jake Milward battled it out on the track for the top spot. Gifting showed incredible skill and determination as he pushed his Gas Gas to the limit, taking home a 1-1 and securing 50 points heading to Cadders Hill, Lyng after a late entry at Oakhanger with the Stebbings Car Super Store Powered by Bikesure 426 Motorsport Team. Without the 2022 Champion there to stop him Isak is the favourite to continue his winning streak into Cadders Hill.
Billy Askew stole the show in the 250cc class with his bold and aggressive riding style going 1-1, while wildcard turned registered rider, Mckenzie Marshal put up a strong fight to keep up. Liam Bennett also displayed impressive riding but was ultimately unable to keep pace with the two leaders. Askew crossed the finish line first, securing his position as a top rider in the 250cc class. Askew will be looking to replicate his BW85 win in 2022 finishing on the top step.
In the 125cc class, Reece Jones, Wal Beaney, and Jake Walker took their respective places on the podium with impressive performances in both races. Jones quickly pulled away from the pack in race one, with Beaney putting up a valiant effort to catch up, and Walker not far behind. Jones continued his dominant performance in race two, crossing the line having lapped up to fifth place in the class. Jake, who performed a podium-worthy performance in 2022 within the BW85 class is one of this year’s favourites for the podium.
The Cadders Hill circuit will also see an additional race for the Veteran riders. The Stebbings Car Superstore Veterans Challenge is a support class that will run alongside the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship at Cadders Hill, Lyng on Sunday 23rd April. This will be for any riders aged 35 and over and will be an open-capacity class
