Jorge Prado battled fiercely in the MXGP, securing 4th overall with consistent finishes of 4th and 5th, retaining his second place in the world championship standings.

The Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team faced intense heat and challenging conditions at the MXGP of Lombok, now preparing for round thirteen in the Czech Republic on July 20/21.

Screaming hot temperatures, back-to-back holeshots, and a podium were the order of the day at the MXGP of Lombok for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team. The Indonesian double-header presented a unique challenge for the riders and teams; with the heat, time difference, and reverse track layouts all combining to create a formidable fly-away challenge at the midpoint of the season.

In MX2, Simon Längenfelder proved to be the master of the gate drop at the MXGP of Lombok, leaving his rivals in the dust, to secure back-to-back holeshot awards. What’s more, the German rider shredded his way to an overall third place finish, by taking third in qualifying, and then P5-P2 results across both of Sunday’s races.

Infact, in the opening MX2 moto Längenfelder led initially – showing his raw speed despite the pressure cooker conditions. In MX2 race two, Längenfelder once again led the way on the opening lap, before rival Lucas Coenen overtook him on the final turn, pushing him to 2nd by lap four. Defending hard, Längenfelder was overtaken by Mikkel Haarup on lap 11 and Andrea Adamo on lap 12, dropping to 4th. A final lap crash cost him another place, finishing P5.

In MXGP, defending champion Jorge Prado just missed out on the podium, finishing fourth overall but retaining his second place in the world championship standings. After securing P4 in Saturday’s qualifying session, Prado had an explosive start in the first moto, fighting his way into 3rd place. However, with two laps to go, he came under attack from Calvin Vlaanderen and ultimately finished 4th.

In Sunday’s final moto, Prado initially dropped to 9th but battled back to 6th by lap two and 5th by lap five. He maintained this position to the final flag, rounding out the weekend with 4-5 finishes.

The Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team now heads back to Europe for round thirteen at the MXGP of Czech Republic on the technical Loket circuit on July 20/21.

MXGP – #1 – Jorge Prado: “The second round here in Lombok is done – it has been a difficult weekend for me. I didnt have the best feeling from the start of the weekend. P6 in practice and then P4 gate pick from the qualy race. On Sunday I made some fast passes, but I felt my starts could have been better. I didnt have enough pace to run with the guys up front. I was loosing alot of energy for both motos. Fourth overall is not what I wanted – but I gave 100%, and now I’m looking forward to Loket!”

MX2 – #516 – Simon Längenfelder: “The conditions have been super tough, and I’m happy to get this result. I was giving it my all to keep Kay behind me in the final moto. To be honest my energy was just finished at the end of the race. My mechanics wrote ‘podium if you finish’ – so I just went for it. I made it! I’m super happy with the holeshots too – it’s a great way to finish here in Indonesia!”
