Week after week, more and more legendary riders are joining the fray, adding fuel to the excitement, and the latest revelation is the formation of Team Northern Ireland, consisting of three incredible riders who are sure to make their mark on the track.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this event is the lineup of riders. Every week, new names are announced, adding to the anticipation and excitement. The Farleigh Castle Team Race is coming together to be a barnstormer, with the big names being announced weekly. The latest team to be announced with three huge names is Team Northern Ireland.

Gordon Crockard, who needs no introduction, is heading the squad as manager and taking the number one spot on the team. Crockard is a multi-time British champion and Grand Prix winner whose best world championship campaign ended with a third overall in the standings, very impressive stats indeed. These days he oversees the HRC factory Honda squad at the MXGP series. He is best known as a Honda rider and will, in fact, be racing his old Honda CR 250 race bike with support from his old sidekick, Nick Moore. These guys are a formidable pairing, and though there’s plenty of banter between the two, they’re deadly serious when it’s time to go racing.
Graeme Irwin will be joining Crockard on the team. Irwin is a former British champion and Grand Prix rider, so his credentials cannot be questioned. Having walked away from professional motocross to follow in his brother’s footsteps and go road racing, he still yearns for the dirt, which brings him back to certain events to compete. Luckily for us, the Farleigh Castle Vets MX is one of the lucky ones.

The third man on the team is Martin Barr, another top-quality racer. Having raced all around the globe in an illustrious career which has so far spanned three decades. Barr has raced for world-leading manufacturers Husqvarna, KTM, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha since turning pro after leaving school at 16. The victories and podium finishes have continued throughout Barr’s career with a win and second-place finish in the Red Bull Pro Nationals championships, a second and third place in the MX1 British Championship and 2nd in the MX1 Red Bull Pro Nationals Championship over the years. Barr has also represented Ireland 14 consecutive times at the MXON. A top man and a first-class MX rider.

With so many Grand Prix wins, appearances, British championships, and MXON appearances all in one team, it’s hard to bet on anyone else when the gate drops on September 14th at the iconic Somerset circuit.

This event promises to be a memorable experience for riders, their families, and fans alike. With sixty riders in each class, we are in for a fantastic weekend of mx racing, but it’s not just about the adrenaline-fueled races; it’s also a weekend of camaraderie, where riders come together to celebrate their shared passion for motocross. Families can enjoy a fun-filled atmosphere, from food stalls offering delicious treats to merchandise stands showcasing anything and everything MX-related, and let’s not forget the fans! As you cheer on your favourite riders, you’ll be surrounded by a community of motocross enthusiasts, creating an electric atmosphere that adds to the excitement.
