Portsmouth MXC Celebrate 50th and final season with Bumper Presentation night!

Celebrating the club’s 50th and final year, over 200 guests arrived at the stunning Royal Maritime Hotel in Portsmouth for the Portsmouth MX Club Annual Presentation and Awards Ceremony. There was plenty of silverware sparkling as the tables filled with eager riders waiting to collect their trophies.

Report and Images by Kay Kennedy

Another difficult year for the Club who only managed to host 7 rounds, the weather playing a huge part in the lack of events, but the Club still felt they needed to honour those who had dedicated their time to ride at each meeting throughout the year.

Perpetual trophies were awarded, with some very surprised riders being awarded shields and cups; Mark Morris, Ricky Carter, Luke Southern, Tyler Kirby, Jayden Williams, Toby Bond, Arthur King and Hendrix Prowse picking up two awards each, all receiving the Consistency Award along with their Championship trophies.

Then it was time to hand out championship trophies, and celebrate all the riders, including the newly crowned champions!

Congratulations to Mark Morris, Ricky Carter, Luke Southern, Tyler Kirby, Jayden Williams, Toby Bond, Arthur King and Hendrix Prowse for all being crowned Champions in their respective classes. It was also great to see so many new faces across the classes in 2023.

But it was Small Wheel 85cc rider Toby Bond who was the star of the night. Stacking up three awards on the night, including not only the Small Wheel 85cc Club Championship award, but also the Consistency award for his class. His consistency, brilliant riding and dogged determination on the track rewarded him with the Rider of the Year, the most prestigious award of the evening. Well done Toby!!

Praise must go to the organisers of the event, Secretary Kay Kennedy, Chairman Martin Bradbury, Lisa & Richard Milsted and the rest of the Committee and Officials who helped organise such an amazing night and for all their hard work throughout not only the last year but the past 20+ years.

With Kay & Martin stepping down from running the club, it was time to party and celebrate the last 50 years of the Club!
