No British Masters Grasstrack in 2024

No British Masters Grasstrack in 2024

Sadly, there will not be a British Masters Grasstrack Championship in 2024. The ACU Track Racing Commission announced today that, with the options and dates available to them, they have had to cancel the event for this year. This is a massive shame for the sport in this country.

Let’s hope a club will step forward next year and give the event the profile the UK’s biggest grass track championship deserves.

The full statement from the Track Racing Commission is below:

“The ACU Track Racing Commission (TRC) met on the evening of Tuesday 20th August and discussed various matters including the situation relating to the 2024 ACU British Masters Championship following the recent withdrawal of ASTRA GTC to stage the event.

The TRC received interest from several parties (and subsequently one offer withdrawn), who were interested in staging the event.
“Following a lengthy discussion around the options available, together with suitable dates left on the calendar to run the event, it is with huge regret that the 2024 ACU British Masters Championship is cancelled for this year.
“The TRC are aware that riders and fans alike will be hugely disappointed with the news, but unfortunately there is no viable or suitable option available for the 2024 event to be staged.
“The TRC will work with ACU clubs and organisers ahead of the 2025 season to ensure all of the key British Championships are staged as planned on the appropriate dates within the calendar, and ask that all organisers work together with the TRC on the calendar for 2025, in order that date clashes are avoided and a full calendar of racing can be confirmed so that riders are not forced to choose one meeting over another due to regrettable clashes.”
