NEW Official ACU British Cross Country Championship all set for February launch!

Edge Offroad and the ACU have agreed to form a new official ACU British Cross Country Championship, to run over 6 event weekends in 2024, aimed at all levels of enduro riders, including the all new Electric classes for youths and adults!

The new XC Championship has been formed after months of negotiation between the ACU and Edge Offroad Event Director, Sonya Jarvis. Having identified the need for a specific series aimed at “where it starts for all riders” and the fact that Cross Country events are still bringing in bums on seats, greater than any other discipline in the UK, we have organised to run classes for Juniors (8+ Autos & 65’s), Youth Girls, Youth B (85SW), Youth A (85BW-150), Novice, Vets (O40 Sportsman), Sportsman, Over 50, Youth AM (Sports/Nov), Ladies, Clubman, Masters (Over35 Exp/Cm), Expert, Under 19’s, Under 23,s and Premier. Plus an Electric Adult event and a separate Electric Youth event.

The events will be of a 3 hour duration for the adults, with Youth A, Youth B and Youth Girls competing in a 2 hour event and the Juniors competing in a 1.5 hour event. The Electric classes for the first year will compete on the youth track for a 45 minute duration. The tracks will be safe and enjoyable, and looking at a long 8-10 mile lap for the adults, and all the youth on a shorter lap.

This will be a nationwide championship, with new venues in Wales, potentially Scotland and the South East, and another round in Yorkshire.

The Championship starts at the awesome Spaunton Quarry venue near Pickering, on 24th & 25th February – all the details are on the website.

Spaunton has a hard standing paddock area of 10 acres plus an over flow parking area of 6 acres – with the winter we’ve had, we all need hard standing right now! The lap at the first round will be no less than 10 miles of woodland, stream sections, hills and descents with fast open sections; so everything you could ask for, for a proper cross country event.

We have been really lucky to secure sponsorship with Michelin, Endurotyres, Two Stroke Performance & Motul UK who will be giving a selection of product prizes to the riders at the end of year Edge Offroad Presentation.

Redline Motorcycles Ltd and Astra Offroad are donating product prizes at one round each, Edge Offroad, JK Construction & Building Services Ltd and K & N Surfacing Ltd are sponsoring one round each with prize money for the riders. It is fantastic that these sponsors are getting behind this new British Championship series, it’s great for the riders to have something given back.

The rest of the Championship dates are:-
Rd 1 – 24th & 25th February
Rd 2 – 23rd & 24th March
Rd 3 – 25th & 26th May
Rd 4 – 29th & 30th June
Rd 5 – 20th & 21st July
Rd 6 – 10th & 11th August

Event information available on www.edgeoffroad.events.
