After more progression made at the previous round of the Revo ACU British Motocross championship at Hawkstone Park, the 3 Flo Madison Crescent Yamaha team were excited to visit the all new Schoolhouse circuit for it’s British championship debut. Team riders, Tommy Wood, Arthur Moore and Ollie Bubb made the long trip north to try and improve on their performances at Hawkstone Park. Unfortunately Hudson Roper will not return to racing until September after breaking his collarbone earlier in the year.
It was another progressive weekend for the team with Tommy (YZ65) breaking the top 10 overall for the first time in his debut year in the class. Arthur Moore (small wheeled YZ85) backed up his and Yamaha’s first national race win in youth MX for some considerable time by putting in four consistent motos to make consecutive third place podiums finishes. Ollie Bubb was again consistent throughout the weekend finishing sixth overall on his YZ125.

“I enjoyed the new track, it was fun to ride with a lot of jumps. It was a bit loose on top though so you couldn’t over ride it because it was easy to wash the front end. I felt like I rode pretty good but I’m still not nailing those starts like I was at the beginning of the year and I was annoyed with my final moto today. Once I get the starts back I’ll give myself more of a fighting chance to maybe reach the podium. I’m now fourth in the championship and not too far off third, so hopefully I can have a really good last round of the championship and make the top three in my rookie year in the 125’s. That would be something positive to build on for next year.”

“I’ve ridden the track a couple of times on training days so I knew what it was going to be like, but they did add some new sections and made the jumps even better. I’m gutted I couldn’t get another win but another third and making the podium is good. I just want to be two steps higher and I know I can be. I didn’t get as good starts as last time at Hawkstone and had to work harder to get to the front but I’m pleased with how I pulled through, especially in the last one to get up to second.”

“I had fun. I like the track because it’s got some nice jumps and is a bit more hard pack. I happy to get in the top 10 in the races and overall because that was the target me and dad spoke about for my first year on in the 65cc class and racing a bike with gears. I know with better starts I can finish higher than 10th. I’m looking forward to the last round at Oxford, it’s where we did the team photos and it’s cool.”

“I was pleased to see the results come in from the weekend. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it up there this weekend due to other commitments and the World Supercross in Birmingham. It was another consistent weekend for us in our debut year and we’re learning all the time. About the bikes and each other and what works for the riders individually. It’s an obvious disappointment not to have Hudson out there racing, so we look forward to seeing him back but to have the other lads in the position they are in the championship for the first year of running the team and their first year all racing Yamaha is good. I’m happy with the progression path we’re on and am already working hard on plans for 2024 and beyond. We’ve got a good foundation to build on. I’m looking forward to finishing off the Revo British championship in style in September before getting straight into a solid off season program with the lads and all of our awesome team partners.”
