Mitchell set to mount title challenge with Hawkstone win! 2022 Bridgestone British Masters Round 1 – Rundown & Results

The 2022 Bridgestone British Masters powered into life at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire at the weekend.

Josh Gilbert hammered home an impressive couple of race wins to win the Pro MX1 class over Liam Knight and Brad Todd.

The Pro MX2 class saw Callum Mitchell take a much-deserved win in a super competitive class, with Adam Collings having a great day in second and Lewis Hall third.

Casey Lister made a successful wildcard appearance in the 65s and with a solid 1-2-3-3 he took the overall honours ahead of Leo Wilson and Marty Spires.

Robbie Daly is continuing on from his 2021 65cc title-winning form by maxing out with 4 wins from 4 for the top spot on the podium. Archie Jay Girdham was second and Sonny Rooney was third.

In the Big Wheel 85’s Billy Askew continued his domination with a full house of moto wins, taking the overall ahead of Josh Vail in second and Charlie Richmond in third.

Aria Elcock began the weekend with two victories in the MXY2 class but on Sunday Callum Murfitt put the hammer down and won both motos to edge the overall ahead of Elcock with Leon Ongley third.

The 125cc class was a real battle of the generations with former British Champion Nev Bradshaw seeing off young talents Tyla Hooley and Raife Broadley with four wins from four on his way to the top of the box.

In Amateur MX1 Harry Bradley was impressive and collected a full set of chequered flags to claim the weekend win. Josh Canton was second and Brad Thornhill had a good weekend in third.

Aaron Ongley with two moto wins and Travis Steels and Jimmy Margetson with one apiece made up the Amateur MX2 poidum in that order.

Over in the Clubman, Colin McLuckie went 1-2-1-1 for the victory over moto two winner James Thompson with Mitchell Collins in third.

The next round of the championship takes place on the 14th and 15th May at Pontrilas
