Mewse & Walsh put the hammer down at Brookthorpe! 2024 Fastest 40 MX Championship Round 4

Conrad Mewse continued his unbeaten run in the Fastest 40 MX Championship by taking both MX1 moto wins at a wet and challenging Brookthorpe on Saturday.

Mewse, onboard his Crendon Tru7 Honda, now holds a 38-point lead at the top of the standings. With another 1-1 performance at the next round at Hawkstone Park, he could end up wrapping up the title a round early.

Tristan Purdon on the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna was Conrad’s closest challenger with two second-place finishes, yet even in the great form he is in, he couldn’t get within 40 seconds of the Honda rider.  Rounding out the podium was another Crendon Tru7 Honda rider, Taylor Hammal, who consolidated his second in the points standings.

Apico Honda’s Martin Barr came home fourth overall, which means he holds onto third in the championship by just a single point over Purdon. Chris Mills, on his return to the UK, once again showed good pace, finishing fifth overall, with Stu Edmonds in sixth.

Dylan Walsh showed his liking of the Brookthorpe circuit by going 1-1 for the victory in MX2, although he had to keep it pinned in moto 2 to fend off a hard-charging Tommy Searle, who was less than a second behind as they passed the chequers.  Searle would end the weekend with second, and in doing so, extended his championship lead over his Dirt Store Kawasaki teammate Joel Rizzi to 36 points.

Doing it for the 2 Strokers, Josh Coleman had a fantastic meeting, going 3-6 for third overall and his first-ever Pro podium. Charlie Heyman made a welcome return from injury for the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna team and ended the day in fourth ahead of the Phoenix Even Strokes Kawasaki of Charlie Cole, with Josh Waterman having a good wildcard ride in sixth.

It was an up-and-down day for series number 2 Rizzi, who would end his day in seventh.

In the 125cc class, Jamie Keith strutted his stuff with the overall and Youth win ahead of Josh Vail and Ollie Bubb, while Luke Dean took the Adult class honours in front of Matt Bayliss and Nev Bradshaw.

Henry Williams showed his mettle in the Honda Cup, taking the chequers in both motos for the overall ahead of Howard Wainwright and Shane Carless.

In Amateur MX1, Scott Aldirge and Josh Greedy traded wins and second, but Aldridge won the overall due to claiming the second moto victory. Josh Canton ended the weekend in third.

Over in Amatuer MX2, Harrison Greenough stormed to a 1-1 day for the win ahead of Charlie Hamlet and Mark Young.

The Clubman MX1 win went the way of Matt Dowes who was tied on points with Charlie West, but Dowes had the upper hand due to taking the chequers in Moto 2. Billy Saunders was third.

Alex Hamer and Richard Roberts also couldn’t be separated on points, so again, the second race would be the tie-breaker. Hamer won that to bring home the weekend overall. In third was Harry Foster.

There was also a Clubman Open class, which was won by David Rushden, who went 1-1, with Will Payne second and Charlie Gutteridge third.

The next round is the Fastest 40/Dirt Store ACU British Championship doubleheader at the famous Hawkstone Park on the 3rd and 4th August
