The AVT Campers KTM team visited the MXGP of Spain and the intu Xanadú —Arroyomolinos track at the weekend. Lucy Barker participated in round 1 of the Women’s World Motocross Championship, and James Barker raced in the EMX250 opener.
Lucy showed good pace and showed that she truly belongs on the world stage, finishing 12th in moto one, then mixing it up at the sharp end, battling for sixth in moto two when she dropped it, ending the moto in 14th for 15th overall.
Lucy said of her experience, “I had a positive weekend at the first GP of the year, learning lots and gaining experience. I had a brilliant start in the second race and got to run up front for the first half of the race before a small slip off. It was great to run with the top girls and I look forward to the next round. We keep working and go again in Denmark this weekend for the first round of the Europeans. Thanks to my mum and dad and to everyone else supporting me.”
James was in a stacked EMX250 class and unfortunately he failed to make the cut and the top 40 for the main motos.
