The day got kicked off with our VMX class. Hot out the blocks were the Morris brothers, Mark and Danny, who led 1 and 2 for the majority of the first moto. Danny Morris was unlucky to not grab a top 6 on the day. Mark however blitzed his competition winning all 3 motos with ease! Brad Humphrey gave it his best but couldn’t keep Morris in his sights, he claimed 2nd. Frazer Turner got 3rd overall after going 4,3,2.
In the MX2 Taylor Hammal was the obvious choice to claim the win for all those watching from the sidelines. The Gabriel KTM man went 1,1,2 for 1st. Charlie Cole was fantastic all day, he even got the chequered flag in moto 3 after some effortless riding. 2,2,1 gained him 2nd overall. It was great to see Dominic Newbury back out on Portsmouth soil. Three consistent rides bagged him 3rd on the day.
MX1 was next to the line. The number 9 of Aaron Gordon won the first two motos but a broken wrist sustained in a moto 3 crash denied him taking the overall win. This left the door open for Dominic Newbury. Newbury, who was racing 2 classes on the day, went 2,2,1 for 1st. Gordon came second. Third place went to the current MX2 champion, Luke Southern, who has stepped his game up for this season joining the MX1 class.
Some impressive riding in the Youth MX class this weekend. Tyler Kirby got the job done! He did have a few crashes along the way but his classy riding got him back to the front every time. He went 1,1,1 for first. The man that could challenge Kirby this season looks to be Charlie Guttridge. Guttridge looks like he has upped his game and is hungry for the prestigious Youth MX title. 2,2,3 bagged him some vital championship points and second overall. Finley Yorke-Williams came in 3rd.
Marley Alder made his move into the BW 85 class, this will be his first season with green plates. He wasted his opposition, most of which have been in this class for a season already. 2,2,1 for 1st overall. Archie Stapley put his bike in the mix also going 3,3,2 for 2nd overall. PW Racing’s very own Jayden Williams, Took the final step on the podium.
Toby Bond led the pack in the Small Wheeled 85’s, By far better than his opposition. 2,1,1 secured him the top spot. Fresh back from the United States of America was young Tommy Phillips. He was hot out the block in Moto 1 and led from start to finish for his first race of the season. He is definitely one to watch this year. The third place spot went to Mason Doe, who displayed some incredible skills on the day.
Arthur King went 1,1,1 in the 65cc class. An outstanding day of riding for him, showing why he is going to be the main man this season. Tommy Wood also put himself in a title-contending spot. He went an impressive 4,3,3 for second overall. The podium was rounded off with Dylan Standing.
The kid that was victorious in the Autos was Jenson King, who raced hard all day and got a win in two of the three motos to secure the overall (1,3,1). Jazz beach could’ve stormed the class and showed that with a first in the second race. 2,1,2 clawed 2nd place overall. William King went home with a well deserved 3rd after his results of 3,2,2.
