Late Nations change for Team Spain as David Braceras makes way for Oriol Oliver

Spanish MX2 rider David Braceras of the F&H Kawasaki Team has withdrawn from the Motocross of Nations with an arm injury.  Team Spain have got high hopes this year with new MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado and opening GP winner Ruben Fernandez giving them their strongest team yet going into the race.

In a moving statement online David announced that although he could ride, he will step aside for Oriol Oliver, who finished the season strongly for Team WZ Racing KTM and placed 12th in the final MX2 World Championship standings.  Here is what David had to say (translated from the Spanish):

“Well my people, you have already seen that finally I will not be on track this weekend in the #mxon because I carry an injury from the last GP of England, nothing serious, a small fibrillar rupture of my left triceps. I know that this would not be an impediment to get on the bike, and even more with having the medical team behind me, with the help of @dra.isabelguillen of @clinicacemtro and @fisioreydes.  Together we have overcome much more serious injuries than this. But this is different, I do not ride on my own here, I ride with the colours, I ride for the honour of my country, the effort of the whole team and maybe the option for Spain to make history and be, once and for all, where it deserves which is in no other place than among the best in the world.

If there was no choice, nobody has the slightest doubt that I would go and leave my life there if necessary, but before the personal interests, you have to reward those of the team.

Everything I am and everything I have achieved so far has been with a lot of effort since nobody gives anything away here, but above all working with a lot of humility, and this is what Spain must do, starting with its members and making the decision to give way to Oriol Oliver, who deserves it as much as I do.

Guys, I’ll be there leaving my voice and soul to push you high from the fence!

Let’s go for them, Let’s go Spain!”
