Harri Kullas came into the second round of the Revo ACU British MX Championships as series leader, after a double race win at round one.

Qualifying saw Harri put in the 5th fastest time for a good gate pick and in race one, the Yamaha YZ450F flew off the line for a clear holeshot from the Honda’s of Josh Gilbert and Conrad Mewse. Harri controlled the race and delivered a faultless display, even under pressure from Mewse all race, despite Mewse never quite getting close enough to attempt a pass.

The rain came down before race two and Harri didn’t get drive off the gate, rounding turn one in 8th place. And with heavy rain still falling, making passes was going to be tough. However, Harri did move to 4th place by the end of lap one, then a few laps later went past current champion, Tommy Searle. However, he settled for 3rd place with the Mewse and Gilbert battling for the win, which Gilbert eventually took.

First and third places gave Harri second overall behind Gilbert, but he still increased his championship lead over Mewse.

Harri Kullas “Happy for the day. Nice to have a race win and was a bit disappointed with third in race two. But I extend my championship lead so I can’t be unhappy.

There is some work to do as always and we need to bring our a-game to every race.

Now we turn our focus to hard-pack to get ready for Foxhill in three weeks time and I have an international race in France next weekend to help with that.”

Thanks as always to my mechanic Steve, and my whole team for the effort and support”

Carpenter moves to 6th in MX1

Jamie Carpenter kicked continued his Revo ACU British MX championship campaign with round two at Lyng, near Norwich, lying 8th in the series after a steady season opener.

Jamie qualified really well with 6th fastest time but his start in race one wasn’t quite as strong, with Jamie just outside the top ten. Jamie put in a smart ride and moved to 9th place on lap three but couldn’t quite get close enough to Martin Barr in 8th to move higher at the finish. A great ride for our MX1 rookie.

In race two, Jamie had a similar start and was 12th at the end of lap one. With the rain coming down, Jamie made some great movement through the field again to finish 9th again, for 8th overall, moving him to 6th place in the MX1 standings.

Jamie Carpenter – “A positive day for me at round 2. A few small changes to the bike recently and I felt a lot more comfortable. I had a good qualifying in 6th place and 8th overall for the day after two solid races and also moved up a few positions in the championship as we head into the next round”

7th overall for Sam Nunn at Lyng

Sam Nunn was looking to build on a decent start to the season at the deep sand of Oakhanger in Hampshire and turn good speed into top result at round two.

Sam put in a fantastic qualifying session to finish 5th fastest in the MX2 class and then had a great start to place 4th early on in race one. The dreaded arm pump kicked in mid-race and Sam dropped to 7th with a few laps to go, before gaining a place on the last lap to finish an excellent 6th place.

In race two Sam didn’t start as well as the previous race, placing just outside the top ten on lap one, before making a few passes and moving to 8th place, when the race was stopped early due to an injured rider and the result stood as over half distance was complete. Sam’s result meant he jumped three places in the standings to 7th.

Sam Nunn – “Overall a good day at Lyng. Really have to thank the team for all their efforts since the last round with improving my bike. Two good motos and lots of positives. Looking forward to the next round at Foxhill, a track I really like”
