Josh Vail takes victory in Single Moto at Blaxhall MXGB

Sunday saw the SJP Moto KTM team head to Blaxhall in Suffolk for the fourth round of the Dirt Store ACU British Motocross Championship.

The Blaxhall circuit was once again perfectly prepared and ready for racing under the summer sun as Josh Vail looked to close the gap at the top of the 125cc championship and Harvey Collins was hoping to continue his strong results.

Sunday morning started with qualifying and Josh posted a number of fast lap times and narrowly missed the pole position by less than 0.2 seconds and finished second fastest. In the 85cc class Harvey Collins posted some good lap times to finish 10th fastest.

In the opening race for 125/250 class, Josh powered out of the gate to take the holeshot and charge into the lead early on. Josh quickly dropped the hammer and pulled a gap at the front of the field. Once Josh had a large gap he maintained the lead to take the race win.

When the gate dropped for the 85cc class Harvey suffered a bad jump of the gate and took a mid pack start. Harvey started to push forward and moved up the order to finish in 12th.

Unfortunately, the second block of racing had to be cancelled after a delays due to a medical emergency.

As a result, the single race result was awarded as the overall and saw Josh on top of the podium.

Away from Blaxhall young Leo Wilson rode the Small Wheel 85cc class at the Bridgestone Masters at Hawkstone and had a solid weekend with a 4,3,3,8 scorecard to claim 4th overall on the weekend.

Leighton Haigh: “Josh rode a great first race and was solid all race long and pulled away comfortably at the front. It was great to claim some points back in the championship as well. Harvey rode well in the BW85cc class on a tough track. Unfortunately, the second races didn’t happen but rider safety has to come first. Leo also had a good weekend at the Bridgestones and got a well-deserved 4th overall.”
