Fastest tonight in Lalin, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider topped the night’s results by just over seven tenths of a second from Beta Factory Racing’s duo Brad Freeman and Steve Holcombe.

  • ACERBIS GP of Spain gets underway with AKRAPOVIC Super Test
  • Josep Garcia puts his KTM on top in Lalin
  • Beta teammates Brad Freeman and Steve Holcombe place second and third.

Marching ahead with the ACERBIS GP of Spain, the second AKRAPOVIC Super Test of the new season was full of excitement. Fast paced, with plenty of technical obstacles for the riders to overcome, the local crowd in Lalin were treated to plenty of action.

Eager to get his home GP off to a flying start, Josep Garcia (KTM) wasted no time in putting his name at the top of the standings, setting the fastest time of the night. The Spaniard means business here in Lalin and will be pushing for nothing less than a victory tomorrow.

Josep’s got company though with the Beta Factory Racing teammates of Brad Freeman and Steve Holcombe pushing hard, just as they did at round one in Italy. Freeman claimed a double EnduroGP victory at the opening round of the series and would dearly like to keep that win streak alive. The next 24 hours will be a telling story for both Freeman and Holcombe.

Finishing just five hundredths of a second behind Holcombe, CH Sherco Racing’s Hamish MacDonald was fourth quickest. The New Zealander has the speed to fight for the podium here in Spain.

In the GALFER Junior Enduro World Championship class, Sergio Navarro (Husqvarna) lit up the scoreboard with the fastest time. Quickest of the Junior riders, he will also be pleased to end the Super Test fifth outright.

Alejandro Navarro (Beta) and Lorenzo Bernini (GASGAS) were second and third respectively.

A double winner at round one, Kevin Cristino (Fantic) continues to set the pace in Youth Enduro. The Italian was over one second quicker than closest rival Thibault Giraudon (Sherco), with Alex Puey (KTM) a further one second behind in third.
