Joe Crewe rode to a 7-ride maximum at Round 3 of the H & N Supplies Ltd. 2022 FGA Championship on Saturday. The youngster from Brierley hill held off his younger brother Jack for victory on the day to add another 25 points to his championship tally. Dylan Wassall came 3rd after a mixed afternoon with mechanical gremlins.

Logan Price made the long trip down from the Wirral as the sole Cub competitor, racing against the juniors to gain maximum points in his class.
Making his FGA debut, Charlie Dowd also raced his way to a 7-ride maximum in the Auto Cadet class, Dowd was in a class of his own at the Alveley track, heading home Oxford speedway mascot Chloe Davis and FGA regular and championship leader AJ Bence respectively.
In the E-bike category, Jessica Cox continued her winning ways. The Runcorn racer dropped 1 point in her 5th ride when battling with FGA newcomer and son of multi-Masters champion Mark Cossar, Toby. Cox Clipped the back of Cossar and fell, Remounted and continued to finish 2nd to Lilly Bence. The Cox – Cossar duels were an entertaining feature of the day’s racing; both were evenly matched with Cossar finishing a close 2nd overall. Lilly Bence was consistent to finish 3rd and Connah Quays Alfie Salisbury finished 4th.
Once again, the Senior class produced some close racing, with riders often split by inches rather than yards. Kevin Gwillam and Wayne Broadhurst would continue their on-track battles. Meeting twice in the heats, they would take one victory apiece before going on to win all their remaining heats. The final would be the decider for them. Steve Mace would have one of his best meetings ever, taking 3 wins and 3 second places to join Broadhurst Senior and Gwillam as 3rd qualifier for the A final. Colin How was 1 point adrift of Mace and Minsterley’s Andy Rowson, a point behind How to finish 5th after some hard-charging through the field during the day. Chris Timms would enjoy his best FGA meeting too, Finishing 6th after a quintette of 2nd places. Gino Casale made his Senior debut. The 2021 Junior Champion was a dark horse throughout the day, taking two victories to finish 7th.
The A final would see Broadhurst Senior take a comfortable victory despite being on borrowed machinery from Andrew Binns for most of the day. Gwillam struggled away from the start and would drop down the field to finish 6th. Colin How was runner up to Broadhurst and Andrew Rowson would secure 3rd place ahead of Timms and Casale (stepping in for the Non-starting Mace).
Nick Bull would put in some strong rides including a race win to seal 8th overall and Nantwich’s Keith Murfin finished 9th. Max Broadhurst would continue his impressive start to track racing taking 2 wins and 3 3rds but a fall in his last heat would ruin any chance of an A final line up, Settling for 10th overall after a B final win.
Sam Hall had another disappointing day. The Multi FGA champion started with a strong win in his 1st ride but would blow up his machine in his 2nd race whilst leading. Hall would borrow his dad’s bike for the remaining heats taking 4 5th places.
Round 4 takes place on the 21st May. Incorporating the Steve Mildoon Memorial. This meeting takes place at the famous Chetton track near Bridgnorth. Free Admission to spectators.
