A week prior to the race in Lierop, Rizzi won the international race in Hawkstone Park so he was determined to continue in this way. The track of Lierop was really heavy and this made it a good test for Rizzi to see where he is at on these type of tracks. He started the day well by setting the third fastest time in time practice behind Jago Geerts and Kay de Wolf.
He took a good start in the first moto and started the race inside of the top five. Despite the fact that he wasn’t able to find his rhythm he managed to stay inside of the top ten till the middle of the race. Unfortunately he lost two more positions near the end of the race and finished the race in twelfth place.
In the second moto his start was less good and he had to come back from outside of the top ten. He came out of the first lap in thirteenth position and started a charge. Due to a mistake he lost some important positions and dropped back to fifteenth position. After his mistake he was struggling to find his rhythm and finally finished the race in fourteenth position.
With a 12-14 moto score he finished in twelfth position overall. This week the team will continue their preparation for the opening round of the world championship MX2 in Argentina this weekend.
