Jewitt in the Juniors and British Vets in fine form at IMBA European Vets Championship Round 2 in the Netherlands!

It was round 2 of the IMBA European Veterans motocross series last Sunday as Mike Allport, Simon Lane and Richard Main travelled to Groesbeek in the Netherlands. On what was a typically deep, sandy and very rough Dutch circuit, the three Brits certainly gave it their all! In the Over 45’s class, Simon was a great 5th overall whilst in the Over 57’s, Mike took a fantastic 4th overall and Richard Main who was also in fine form scored earned 9th.

Sunday’s Vets racing was certainly to be spiced up with the appearance of former top Dutch IMBA stars Jarno Verhorevoort and Jacky Thijssen who went onto earn 1st and 3rd respective overall placings. In moto one which as per normal was a combined class of Over 45’s and 57’s, Lane got stuck in to get home in 7th with Allport 19th and Main 21st.

The second clash was to produce Lane’s best finish as he scored a great 4th with Allport 16th and Main 29th. Keeping up the pressure in the hot race for the IMBA Vets titles, Simon Lane then finished the event by bagging 6th in moto three as Mike Allport scored another 16th and Richard Main 24th. Those results mean that with just one round remaining at Kleinhau in Germany this coming weekend, Simon sits 2nd in the Over 45’s class just 24 points behind Belgian Didier Ghaye whilst in the Over 57’s, Mike is in 3rd spot and only 15 points off top slot where Thomas Lutz and Thomas Beuer sit locked together on a total of 324 as Richard currently occupies 5th, it’s all to play for!!

Also competing in the support Juniors A Class at Groesbeek was Gloucester based youngsters Ollie Jewitt and Tyler Lane. And, what fantastic results they were to post with Ollie grabbing the overall victory and Tyler getting home in 6th. After taking the runners-up spot in the 2024 AMCA 125cc Youth Championship, Ollie certainly was in top form in the Dutch sand scoring 1/2 positions and Tyler recording a 8/6 scorecard. Well done lads!
