Jett Lawrence fined for Supercross row but apologises to Jason Anderson!

After post-race footage emerged of a clearly angry exchange of views between 20-year-old  SMX Champ Jett Lawrence and 2018 AMA Supercross Champ Jason Anderson, both riders have been hit with a fine from the AMA for a “Code of Conduct Violation”.

Check the footage here of the post-race nose-to-nose of the two riders and SuperMotocross analyst Jason Thomas’ break down if it all.

Shortly after the incident, Jett posted the following statement on his social media, in large plain white text on a black background:

“Tonight I let emotions get the better of me. I let myself down in the heat of the moment. I’ll learn from this, and my apologies to @elhombre21 it was on me, I’ll pay your fine. @amasupercross send me the invoice and per your request, free passes to the fan zone for the season. Sorry mate.”

Quite what the problem was, apart from the frustration of taking several laps to get past the veteran Kawasaki rider, is unclear as El Hombre didn’t appear to make any controversial moves in his efforts to hold on to 4th place in the muddy San Diego Main Event. It certainly has given the runaway unbeaten 2023 450 Motocross Champion the most adversity he has yet faced since he moved up from a 250.  That said, his mercurial move past three riders, through the whoops in the first lap of his heat race, gave notice that he has lost none of his speed and bike control. In normal operating conditions it would be tough to bet against him despite these two tricky mud races he has endured most recently.
