Jed Etchells goes 1-2 at the EnduroGP of Spain to lead the Junior class!

The second round of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship of the current 2023 season was held in Lalin, a small village a few kilometres from Santiago de Compostela, and one of the many stages of the famous Camino de Santiago.

For the occasion, the Motoclub Movete na Moto designed a route with three special tests to be repeated three times a day, which were very technical and treacherous and put all the top riders to the test. The Spanish race, which opened as usual on the evening of Friday 5th May with the Super Test in the presence of a large and festive crowd, included a natural Extreme Test located in the centre of Lalin, 1 km long and characterised by a mixed terrain of earth and sand made particularly difficult by the presence of numerous slippery rocks, followed by a very fast Cross Test with mixed grass, earth and sand terrain and a 7 km Enduro Test in a forest with soft terrain made difficult by the presence of numerous roots along the route.

The Spanish GP weekend started with a dramatic news. Due to a motorbike accident, the Team Manager of Team L.M., Ludovic Pierre, tragically lost his life.

The JET Fantic Racing team joins the condolences and grief of his family and Team L.M..

JET Fantic Racing and Jed Etchells lead the provisional Junior class standings with one first and one second place. The British rider rode two splendid days of competition, highlighting his qualities and recording excellent times in all three special tests. In the Junior 1 class Jed Etchells is also dominating and the final score is another first and second place.

On Spanish soil Harry Edmondson also performed well, showing his technical prowess at Lalin by taking a sixth and seventh place in the Junior 1 class and scoring two eleventh places in the Junior class. The reigning Youth class champion recorded excellent times in all special tests and his best time, the second best in the Junior class, was set on Day One during the first pass in the Enduro Test.

The Enduro Circus does not stop and after the Spanish GP and a short two-week stop, the third round of the Enduro World Championship will take place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May on Finnish soil in Heinola.

Matthew Savi: “We are very happy with our two riders, both of whom rode a very good race in Lalin. Jed Etchells is very focused and determined in his final goal, and in Spain he still received the Junior class leader’s table. Also an excellent race for Harry Edmondson, the young rider is still settling into the Junior class after the title he won last year in the Youth class.”

Jed Etchells:  “I am happy with the results because with the whole team we are working hard and in the right direction. Now maximum concentration for the GPs in Finland and Sweden.”

Harry Edmondson: “I am satisfied with my performance this race weekend. There is still a long way to go but I have a good feeling with the new bike.”
