International flavour for SC Sporthomes team at VMXDN Foxhill!

It’s just 50 days until the gate drops on VMXdN Foxhill 2023! With more news of riders and teams, this will be one hell of an event. Please make no mistake, the riders of the International team race are all coming to the line with one thing on their mind, and that’s taking home that victorious title.

SC Sporthomes have been on board as a supporter of VMXdN Foxhill since their inception, and when Shaun is involved, things can only be good. For 2023, he is not only a sponsor of the event, but he is fielding a “Rest of the World” squad alongside Neil Prince, himself a former Grand Prix rider and British champion who manages the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna squad as his day job.

Evgeny Bobrychev needs no introduction to the British or, indeed, the world stage. The 35-year-old Russian has been at the sharp end of any race he is entered, and his tough “never give up” attitude has won him fans across the globe. He climbed the ladder pretty quickly, and from 2011 he was a full-on factory Honda HRC rider. In recent years he has been hampered in his racing activities due to sanctions placed on all Russian athletes. He has only recently been back on the gate. He brings his own flair in spades to the squad at the British championship. Bobryshev is fully race fit and ready to do battle with the best in the world; make no mistake about it.

Next up in a truly international flair is four-time Japanese national champion Yoshitaka Atsuta. Now 45 years old, he is returning to the legendary Foxhill Grand Prix circuit as a veteran. Atsuta has a truly impressive resume having raced the MXGP series back in the day, finishing inside the top ten on multiple occasions. His most impressive statistic is that he has represented his country on eleven occasions at the national level. A real character, he is fun to have about, though I will warn you he swears-a lot!

Atsuta has also been a factory test rider for HRC Honda and Suzuki, so he knows his stuff on bike set-up. He will be racing a Honda RC 250 with the number 14 on the plate.

Rounding up the rest of the world team, we jump to Belgium and Kevin Wouts. Wouts is a Belgian national, former Grand Prix rider, and Grand Prix winner with an MX3 overall in 2012. Having spent the majority of his career racing the ADAC national masters series in Germany until 2015, he then went to the Belgian national championships in 2016, where he finished 5th in the MX1, 5th in the European MX2 and won the Belgian MX2 championship title. He had a spell in the British championships when he signed for the Heads & Threads Suzuki squad in 2017. Now at 33 years old, he is considered retired but had some appearances for the Pfeil Kawasaki squad in Germany as a fill-in rider. Wouts is a very accomplished racer and will undoubtedly be in the mix.

The VMXdN international team race is a favourite with fans, with riders from all over the world, including Mike Brown, Ryan Villopoto, Zach Osborne, Matiss Karro, Lauris Freibergs, David Goosen, Damon Strydom, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Billy MacKenzie, Bryan MacKenzie, David Knight, alongside hometown boys Tommy Searle, Mel Pocock, and Brad Anderson to name but a few!

With Show’N’Shine kicking off the bank holiday weekend proceedings on the Thursday afternoon, this event will surely be a two-stroke spectacle. With a trade village, evening entertainment and more racing action than you could shake a stick at, it’s the perfect family fun mx weekend.
