News from the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team has emerged today that Liam Everts, who took three GP wins on his way to 4th in the MX2 World Championships last season, has picked up a thumb injury that will hit his Championship campaign for 2024.

The news has come from Liam’s social media channels:
“Liam suffered a thumb injury in a small crash while training yesterday. At first, it seemed to be a sprain, but it’s worse than we expected. The doctor in the hospital of Herentals discovered a fracture and Liam had to undergo surgery this afternoon.
He will miss the first MXGP of the season (Argentina) because of this. After an almost perfect winter preparation, this comes as a serious disappointment. Time to heal up and come back!”
Sadly, this will obviously rule him out of this weekend’s Hawkstone International, giving him nearly a full month to recover in time for the second round, the MXGP of Spain at Xanadu-Arroyomolinos on the 23rd & 24th of March.
It’s not the first time that a hand injury has messed up the start of a season for Liam. He broke several fingers in a first corner crash of the Qualifying race at Matterley Basin in 2022. He’ll be hoping to get back to speed quicker than he did then.
All at Dirt Hub wish Liam the very best for his recovery.
