Heavy hitters head to Hawkstone! 2024 ACU British Motocross Championship Round 4 – Preview

Heavy hitters head to Hawkstone! 2024 ACU British Motocross Championship Round 4 - Preview

The 2024 Dirt Store ACU British Motocross Championship returns to the fold this weekend at the famous Hawkstone Park in Shropshire for Round 4 of the series, which runs alongside the Fastest 40 Motocross Championship in a mammoth British MX double-header. MX fans of the Uk are in for a feast of action and this is one weekend of racing not to be missed!

The MX1 class sees the Bullet, Jeffrey Herlings on his Red Bull KTM, and Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Conrad Mewse resume their titanic tussle at the head of the standings with the Dutchman holding a slim 3-point lead at the head of standings.

Can Mewse beat last weekend’s MXGP winner?? It will be an awesome performance if he does and one that, as we have seen already, he is certainly capable of.

Behind the lead duo is where it gets really interesting as the riders from third to eighth position only being separated by 15 points, with Apico Honda’s Martin Barr being the lead rider just one point ahead of Brad Tood, who in turn is just 2 points in front of the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna of Tristan Purdon. Also in this fight for third is Jason Meara and the returning from injury Gabriel SS24 KTM rider Josh Gilbert, and the Honda mounted Sam Nunn.

An interesting addition is the Bike It Kawasaki of Bobby Bruce, who we know has his eyes on a Team GB MXON place. Other riders expected to be at the sharp end are Dan Thornhill, Tom Grimshaw, Chris Mills and Carlton Husband.

In MX2, the gap is even tighter than MX1, with Bike It Kawasaki’s American star Jack Chambers holding the red plate by a narrow two-point margin over the super-fast Cas Valk of the Gabriel SS24 KTM team.  These two will have the Dirt Store Kawasaki duo of Joel Rizzi and Tommy Searle to contend with sitting in third and fourth in the standings and the coming back into form Dylan Walsh.

Also with their eyes on a podium spot will be Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Taylor Hammal and Jake Nicholls, ASA United GasGas’s Ben Mustoe, 426 Motorsports Joe Brookes, SC Sporthomes Husqvarna’s Charlie Heyman, Bike It Kawasaki’s Billy Askew and the list goes on with any number of riders including Ollie Colmer, Josh Coleman, Alfie Jones, Elliott Banks Browne, Jamie Wainwright and loads more all looking to stake their claim on the higher places in the standings.

Also duking it out will be the Youth 125 class, where the Josh Vail/Jamie Keith battle with resume, and the Youth 250 where Reece Jones will be looking to continue his dominance.

The Big Wheel 85’s sees Hayden Statt looking to edge clear of his rivals, while in the Small Wheel 85’s, Harley Marczak, Arthur Moore, Leo Wilson, Nixon Coppins, and Tyler Rogers will all be going at it for British Champs glory.
