HAWKSTONE NEWS: MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo to make Hawkstone International debut!

The 2024 Ashbrook Hawkstone International powered by Syntol has announced a major attraction for the season opener on February 25th – reigning MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo!

Words: Ben Rumbold, Images: Ray Archer / KTM Media Library

The Sicilian has never raced in the Shropshire sands before and it builds hopes that the MX2 class will have some real depth and quality after the 2023 event was thin on the ground in terms of international stars.

Obviously drawn to the event with the promise of separate motos for MX1 & MX2, the addition of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Adamo is a fascinating and brilliant development.  Not many Italians have ventured to Hawkstone in advance of a World Championship season, so this is a real bonus for the event, after previous announcements that fellow KTM star man Jeffrey Herlings and the factory Fantic squad of Glenn Coldenhoff and Roan van de Moosdijk will race in the MX1 class.

The top British team Gabriel SS24 KTM squad will also be there with Josh Gilbert in MX1, prior to his debut full MXGP campaign in 2024.  Also with Shaun Simpson’s team will be EMX250 title contender Cas Valk, presumably in the MX2 class with Adamo.  Will we see Andrea’s teammate, and son of a many-time Hawkstone winner, Liam Everts, return to Shropshire as well?  We will keep our fingers crossed!

The event’s social media post declared that: “We are thrilled to announce that 2023 MX2 World Champion will be making his debut at the Hawkstone International in 2024! Welcome @andreaadamo80 we can’t wait to watch you at Hawkstone!!”

More information on the event is to be found HERE.
