Rewind the clock back twelve months and the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club (DDBC) annual Brechfa Rally was held in glorious weather with plenty of dust, however, this year’s two-day event was totally different after weeks of heavy rain that lasted up till the Friday evening the going was going to be a touch harder.

As Saturday morning dawned the rain had finally stopped as riders went through documentation and scrutineering checks before the first of the riders left the start line at 10am.
With a 37 mile lap ridden three times and two hours per lap to ride it in the results would be from the seven mile special test that was mostly off road going in the tower block of the Brechfa Forest towards the end of the lap. Harry Hillier Rees would take the main overall position at the end of the day.
Day two started an hour earlier at 9am so as those riders with a long way to go home had an earlier start to the journey and with only two laps ahead of them and with the sun even making an appearance the day looked better but in the trees it made no difference with plenty of mud and water to tackle. Harry Hillier-Rees would be the rider setting the times again and finished on the top step of the podium. Tristan Young would take a convincing class win riding a 700cc Gas Gas and handled it as if he was riding a little 125.
As the crews left the start finish venue at Brynllywelin farm on Llanllwni Man in Carmarthenshire those that crossed the finish line left west Wales with beaming smiles on their faces with good points in the bag from Rd 1 of the ACU British Bike Rally Championship.
