Gifting & Mewse win out at Hawkstone! 2023 Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Round 5 – Race Report & Results

This weekend we saw the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship, brought to you by Kawasaki UK, take to the notorious Hawkstone Park in Shropshire.

The championship’s fiery competition ignited with a bang as the young stars of the sport, the 65cc and SW85 riders, showcased their immense talent in a gripping opening round. These future champions fearlessly tore through the unforgiving terrain, leaving no doubt that the title was theirs to seize.

Meanwhile, the BW85 class, 125cc, 250cc, MX2, and MX1 classes resumed their relentless battles, each rider unleashing their unwavering determination to conquer Hawkstone Park. The tracks bore witness to breath-taking displays of skill, as they took on the historical sandy track.

In the 65cc class we had three main contenders over the weekend Casey Lister, Cohen Jagielski and Harley Marczak with Cohen setting the Kecks Fastest lap in the first race and Jett Gardiner taking the 24MX Holeshot in the second race it was a competitive battle to the end for all riders. In the end, Harley Marczak emerged as the overall winner, amassing an impressive total of 172 points. Cohen Jagielski closely followed in second place with 167 points. Casey Lister secured the third spot with 163 points, while Nixon Coppins claimed fourth with 147 points. Arthur King rounded out the top five with 143 points. These riders showcased their exceptional skills and battled fiercely for victory, captivating the audience throughout the Championship.

In a thrilling battle for the top positions in the Small Wheel 85cc class, Joel Winstanley-Dawson emerged as the victor in the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship at Hawkstone Park. With an impressive total of 174 points, Winstanley-Dawson showcased his exceptional skill and determination, leaving his competitors in his wake. Jenson Severn closely followed with 167 points, while Arthur Moore secured third place with 157 points. Lucas Lee claimed the fourth position with 153 points, and Chase Panter rounded out the top five with 149 points. Their thrilling performances electrified the track and captivated spectators throughout the weekend.

Josh Vail claimed the top spot in the Big Wheel 85cc class, amassing a total of 177 points. With consistent performances across all four races, Vail showcased his dominance on the track. Jamie Keith took second place with 149 points, while Charlie Richmond claimed third with 135 points. Drew Stock finished fourth with 139 points, and Lewis Spratt secured fifth place with 145 points. Their outstanding performances thrilled the audience throughout the championship.

In the 125cc class, Reece Jones soared to victory, clinching first place in a breath-taking display of skill and speed the #104 finished ahead of Jake Walker who put up a valiant fight on his return from injury, securing a commendable second place. Wal Beaney rounded off the podium with an impressive third-place finish with a total of 75 points. Jones still sits first in the championship followed by Beaney and 68 points behind is Wesley Mcgavin.

The 250cc class saw heated racing throughout the weekend, but it was in race four that the riders had the crowd on their feet, with Billy enduring a crash part way through which allowed McKenzie Marshall to pull away at the front. Despite the lead however, the #555 would be chased down by the unbeatable Askew who made the pass back for the lead on the final lap, to rapturous applause.

Isak Gifting seized the spotlight by winning the second race, securing his spot atop the podium. The roar of the crowd reverberated, celebrating his remarkable triumph.

Bobby Bruce, displaying sheer brilliance in the first race, left spectators stunned with his fearless overtaking manoeuvres. However, his second race didn’t go as planned, hindering his chances of overall victory. Elliot Banks-Browne displayed unwavering determination and skill, clinching a respectable third place on the podium with 38 points, just edging out Taylor Hammal, who valiantly claimed fourth place. The battle for podium positions was intense, delivering a captivating display of motocross prowess. The MX2 event showcased the electrifying spirit of motocross, with Isak Gifting, Bobby Bruce and Elliot Banks-Browne earning their places on the podium. This unforgettable spectacle left fans breathless and reminded us why this sport continues to thrill and captivate.

Hawkstone Park became the battleground for an intense clash of the MX1 title challengers as Conrad Mewse, Josh Gilbert, and Harri Kullas vied for supremacy. Each rider unleashed their full potential, leaving no room for compromise as they fought tooth and nail for the top spot. Conrad Mewse delivered a stellar performance, securing a perfect 1-1 scorecard. Just eight points behind, Mewse’s teammate Josh Gilbert claimed second place, with Harri Kullas trailing by two points, earning Kullas a total of 40 points overall. Conrad Mewse’s dominant victory ensures he extends his championship lead to 17 points over Kullas with two rounds remaining.

The Championship title remains within reach for all three riders however, setting the stage for an exhilarating round at SchoolHouse on the 1st & 2nd of July.
