Final fling at Lyng! 2024 Eastern Centre Motocross Championship Finale – Preview

2024 Eastern Centre Motocross Championship Finale

On Sunday, 29th September, the Norwich Viking MCC will host the final round of the Stebbings Car Superstore and Norton Way Honda ACU Eastern Motocross Championship at Cadders Hill, Lyng. Although both the Expert and Junior titles have been decided, there will be an excellent day of racing with a full lineup of 160 riders battling for the remaining podium places.

With over 25 Expert riders entered, the Premier Class is bound to provide some spectacular action on Cadders Hill, with the fastest Junior riders mixing it with the established experts.

The Expert Championship was sealed by Sam Nunn a couple of weeks ago the penultimate round at Blaxhall. However, with both Lewis Tombs and Tom Grimshaw absent, 2023 champion Luke Parker will be fighting to retain the runner-up position that he currently holds. Shaun Southgate, who is 5th in the championship, could have made the championship podium with 3 good race results, but unfortunately, a bad crash last week forced his withdrawal from the event.

Top British Championship riders, Jake Nicholls and Dylan Woodcock will be aiming to make things as difficult as possible for those chasing the podium places. Jake rode to a stunning treble at Blaxhall at the last round and always rides well on the tough going at Lyng.

The Junior Championship was also clinched at Blaxhall by Norwich Viking rider Tim Warnes some 20 years since he first won this championship. Tim will be aiming to finish on a high at his home track, but there will be over 130 junior-graded riders challenging for a place in the Premier Class. Tim Warnes cannot be caught in the championship, although one of his main sponsors, Matt Pope, is second at present, and Harry George and Jae Jeffries are only a handful of points behind.

With 12 races scheduled throughout the day, this promises to be an unmissable event. The action begins at 09:30am with timed qualification with the first championship race at approximately 11:45am.

Admission prices are Adults £10, Children 15 and under Free, Unaccompanied children £5.

Cadders Hill, Lyng can be found using post code NR9 5QZ. There will be signage from both the A47 and A1067.
