Ever wanted to ride a Sidecar?? Now you can at an Offroad Sidecar try it day!

On Saturday and Sunday 23rd and 24th March, UK Women in Motorcycle Sport are organising a fantastic event at Hafod-y-Dafal, Aberbeeg, NP13 2ER, South Wales, which is only half an hour from the M4 bridge – in a format which has never been done before! We have sidecars for all three offroad disciplines: grass track, enduro/motocross, and trials.

There is also trials and offroad training for women riders.  Trials and trail bikes (TTR125 and CRF250L) are supplied, and there are enduro sessions with Tamsin Jones for women with their own enduro bikes.

Sidecar passengering is open to anyone aged 15 upwards. Driving a sidecar may be available, but will be subject to a good chat with the owner and entirely at the discretion of the sidecar owner.

Passengering is tiring and you will only do a few minutes at a time. The areas are within walking distance of each other. The drivers will advise, as will the experienced passengers.

Motocross clothing with body armour is suitable for all disciplines and can be booked free of charge. Please let us know what items you need, your height and your sizes: feet, helmet and waist or dress size. We supply boots, body armour (back protector and arms), knee pads, mx trousers, shirts/jackets, gloves.

Price for sidecars is £45 a day or £80 for both days (to cover the land use, the NORA training permit and the sidecar providers costs).

Women’s session: one hour trials session is £45. Two hours enduro bike training (need own bike) £65. Two hour beginner and trail rider training with bike £95.

Information sheets provided on all disciplines for anyone who is interested in beginning competition. The event is at https://www.facebook.com/events/883630726707803

Basic camping is available, but the landowner has not yet said whether it will be free for participants or a small fee extra. It is on top of a hill, so we hope the weekend is not too windy or rainy, and might be better for campers and caravans. There will be portaloos, but no showers, no electricity or water. Not sure yet whether we can get a burger van. We will go out for a meal on Saturday night.

For more information and to book, please email marianne@bikerider.com or phone 01686 430522. Please note that pre-booking is essential.
