Foxhill marked the return of Josh Vail after the Big Wheel 85cc class skipped the previous round at Lyng. Competing alongside Josh was Reece Jones in the 125cc class as the pair arrived at the event holding the Red Plates for their respective classes.

Morning qualifying saw Reece out on track first and quickly settling into the track and started to set several fast laps. Reece ended the session as the third fastest and the fastest 125cc rider giving a good gate position for the races. In the Big Wheel 85cc class, Josh pushed hard on the fast hard pack circuit which isn’t one of his favourite venues and finished the session as the second fastest.

Later on, it was time for the first Youth 125cc/250cc race and when the gate dropped Reece got a good jump and rounded the first corner in second place. Reece quickly looked to move into the lead at the end of the opening lap, but the race was Red Flagged soon after due to a crash on the opening lap. In the restart, Reece made another good start but didn’t move forward as quickly this time and on the second lap Reece was into second place in the race and the leading 125cc rider and took the class victory.

In the Big Wheel 85cc class Josh Vail rounded the first corner in second place and set his sights on challenging for the race lead. Josh pushed hard all race long but was unable to make a pass for the lead and settled for second place.

Unfortunately, due to a tragic accident at the end of the first MX1 race, the rest of the meeting was abandoned prior to Reece and Josh completing their second races on a very sad day for British Motocross.

Leighton Haigh “This weekend both Reece and Josh rode well with Reece taking victory and Josh finishing second at tough track for him as both riders continued to maintain their Championship leaders. Today’s results mean very little compared to the tragic accident that followed later and on behalf of the whole team we wish to offer our deepest condolences to the Family and Friends of Simon Mitchell.”
