Harri took the track for qualifying and was 4th fastest and then flew out of the gate on his Yamaha YZ450F in race one, getting the holeshot and pulling a healthy gap early on. Harri kept pushing and looked fast and smooth on the rough Lyng track, winning by an emphatic 40 seconds from Tommy Searle.
Race two and Harri was 3rd off the line, then made a pass on John Adamson to claim 2nd at the end of lap one. Harri closed the gap to Searle at the front, then on lap 5 made the move to the front and pulled a 20 second lead for another superb race win and now leads the series.
Harri Kullas “Great day at Lyng. Holeshot first race and rode very good picking up win with big lead.
“Second start I was 3rd and moved to 2nd on first lap and then had great battle with Searle and managed to make a pass and win the second race.
“Very happy with 1-1 day as I felt like I had good speed and rode very smart.
“We tried couple things on our suspension with Simon and we learned from race day, which is good for the second half of the season.”
Dan back in amongst it
Dan had a tough qualifying session with 16th place which gave him a poor gate pick and this affected his race one start as he rounded lap one well done. A fall mid race dropped him further down and Dan eventually finished 15th in MX1.
A better start in race two, saw Dan further up the field and having some good battles in the combined MX1/MX2 class, to eventually finish 12th MX1.
Dan Thornhill “I struggled to put one solid lap without any mistakes in qualifying which made my lap time a little off where it should have been. With the mixed class this then makes the start position doubled. A poor gate pick was an uphill battle all day.
“Worked hard early In race one to fight into the mix before a small slip off in a tight turn. Then another mistake later in the race over riding whilst trying to make up more time.
“Race two was a lot better in regards to my riding but again a better start was required and a few less mistakes. 13th overall on the day. A weekend off now to keep working on some areas and kickstart the second part of the season.”
Great progress for Sam Nunn at Lyng
Sam Nunn was taking on the MX Nationals round three this weekend, looking to further build on his positive weekend at Canada Heights the previous weekend, where he returned from injury.
Sam qualified well with the 3rd fastest lap in MX2 and then was around 5th place in MX2 early on. Sam was able to push longer than the weekend before but a small fall dropped him to a still strong 7th place at the finish.
In race two Sam got a good start and was top 5 in MX2 early on, moving through to 4th place and then on the last lap pushed really hard to catch 3rd place Jamie Law, missing out by 0.8 seconds!
Sam Nunn – “Overall a good day at Lyng. Happy with how things are going and looking forward to getting more race time in on my awesome Yamaha YZ250F.
“Hopefully it won’t be too long til I’m where I want to be.
“Thanks to everyone for their help”
