Following a fantastic 2020 MX Nationals and after the recent news of his move to a Honda with the PGVM Racing team we caught hold of Josh Spinks and hounded him with our Dirty Dozen questions and here is how they came out…

Dirt Hub: Do you have a Pre-Race Playlist you listen too, and if so name a couple of tracks that are on it?

Josh: Don’t usually listen to music on race day, but on the drive down I have some old school Sum 41, Linkin Park, Reel Big Fish, sometimes go the other direction with some UB40 as it reminds me of going racing with my Dad.

DH: When was the last time you cried?

Josh: When my dog died last year

DH: What is your favourite inspirational quote?

Josh: Don’t wait for opportunity. Create it.

Dirty Dozen Josh Spinks

DH: Do you have any weird suspicions or pre-race rituals?

Josh: I just make sure my bladder is empty before heading down to the gate

DH: What drives you most to get up in the morning and go training?

Josh: The regret of not doing it! Training makes you feel good and I make sure I train early where I can

DH: If you didn’t race what sport would you play or take part in?

Josh: I love mountain biking, Downhill stuff mainly. But a non-motorsport option would be golf

DH: What is your biggest Phobia ie spiders, Heights…?

Josh: Spiders for sure! But also, Gas Masks

DH: Who is your biggest sporting idol and why?

Josh: Travis Pastrana, I love the variety of his career and how he has time for everyone! Really sets a great example and is grounded unlike a lot of people of his ability, or even people with a lot less lol!

DH: Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Josh: Away from this country hopefully haha! On the serious, I would like to continue to build my coaching business and have my own track to base it from! Also, have a child, I look forward to that!

DH: What is your all-time favourite movie?

Josh: Cool Runnings

DH: Who has had the biggest impact on your career?

Josh: My Grandad!

DH: What is your philosophy on life?

Josh: 100% at everything & don’t take it too seriously!
