Determination and persistence from Chambers at MXGP of Lombok

It was an unfortunate start to the racing at the second round of the Indonesian MXGP flyaway for the Bike It Kawasaki team, as a big crash a few laps into the first race would shake their American rider Jack Chambers. However, he valiantly rejoined the race and managed to secure four points by the chequered flag.

The second race showed much more promise as Chambers worked his way up to 11th, and while pushing for a spot in the top ten broke his buckle on his race trousers and was unable to ride comfortably, eventually finishing in 14th to collect 15th overall.

Chambers sits in 14th in the Championship standings, and 1st in the British Championship with the next round coming up this weekend at Foxhill.

Jack Chambers – MX2

“It was a tough day. In the first race I had a really big crash a couple of laps in; I found my flow again towards the end with decent lap times to pull back a couple of positions but I had hit my head pretty hard in the crash and we even discussed whether I should start race two during the break. But we decided to go and I was fighting for top-ten until I got unlucky when I broke the buckle on my race trousers which made it hard to ride properly. We had a decent two weekends; the highlight was definitely the eighth place in Quali last week. Now we fly back to Europe; I’m feeling a little depleted now so I will try to rest up a little this week before the next round of the British Championship, which I am leading, and then on to the next GP in the Czech Republic.”

Steve Dixon – Team Manager

“Hats off to Jack and Zac who were both away together for the first time at a flyaway on their own, completing 6 race finishes and 5 point scoring rides, it was unfortunate that Jack crashed in the first race, we were both hoping that this would be a good round given his conditioning and coming from Florida. It was great to have sponsors over there from Silkolene, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience with the team. We now prepare for the next lot of races where there isn’t a weekend off until the end of the season!”
