Crowning glory! 2021/2022 Scunthorpe Winter Flat Track Championship Finale – Report, Results and Standings

Jack Bell powered to the Flat Track win but it wasn’t enough to earn him the title which went the way of Teddy Wilkinson.  On the day Gary Birtwhistle and Paul Cooper were second and third in the final.

Wilkinson would go double bubble as he also notched up the Pitbike title for good measure although Paddy Moore was the victor on the day, with Erin Dyer second and Jack Bell third.

In the Junior one class Ryan Ingram showed that the title was going to the correct rider by going through the card on the day and winning the final ahead of Lane Tildsley and Mya Harris.

Junior Two was once again a battle between Paddy Moore and Wyatt Hopkins with Moore gaining the upper hand in the final over Hopkins and Ingram.  The two couldn’t be separated in the standings though with them both finishing off on 78 points so it was Moore and Hopkins who would share the Crown.

It was Jamie Kimber who would triumph in the Ladies class at the finale, fending off Jackie Bally and Rachel Pledge but when the points were tallied up at the end of the series the Number one spot would go the way of Erin Dyer! Congrats Erin.

Josh Fowler pulled it out of the bag in the Pitbike final heading home Paul Smith and Simon Field! The Champion though however wasn’t present and that was Neil Mcdermott.

In the MX/Dirtbike Class Adam Nicholls would stand on the top step of the series podium.  The last race of the season though was won by Jonathan Dowd who kept Julian Shaw and Josh Fowler at bay, while Will Curtis would win the Vintage MX title.

It was super tight in the Inappropriate championship with just 4 points separating the top three. It was Andrew Walker though who would be crowned champ, just a solitary point ahead of Jake Staniforth with Tom Batham in third.  Karl Hancock would win the final round ahead of Staniforth and Walker.

Sam Shook cleaned up in the Street Tracker class signing of on the series for a win in the final which would help him claim the title. In the final James Kellett was second and Darius Zbyrowski was third.

Talking of Zbyrowski he would gain his glory in the Street Comp category after finishing third in the final at the last round behind Robin Brown and Shook.

Jon Dyer was the number one in the Vintage Flat Track although Danny Williams would be victorious at the finale.

The attention now turns to the 11th Summer Championship which starts on Sunday 1st May and continues with rounds on 22nd May, 24th July, 21st August, 11th September and 16th October. One round can be dropped by entrants so the family holiday doesn’t preclude them from challenging for the titles.

Whilst there was only one class (Junior Two mixed in with our speedway classes) back in 2012 the club have since added, and stuck with, the following 11 classes:

Flat Track (2013)

Pit Bikes (2014)

Inappropriates (2015)

Junior One, Ladies, MX/Dirt Bike & Street Tracker (2018)

Super Comp, Vintage Flat Track and Vintage MX/Dirt Bike (2019)

Minibikes (2021, although previously in with Pit Bikes)

Of course, the Summer Championship has a break in June when the fifth running of Dirt Diggers takes place on Saturday 18th June.
